The wicked wind...
So my ride today was made *interesting* by 23mph headwinds, which turned very nice on the way home when they became tailwinds. The hills didn't help much either...
So what is better, headwinds on the way out or back in? |
I prefer them on the way out.
|
I prefer headwind on the way out, tailwind home.
One of the issues you run into on longer rides is that you can ride into a headwind for a LONG time. |
Doesn't make a difference to me. :thumb:

what type of winds do you normally have down there? i can't wait until the winds calm down up here, should be in a few weeks (judging by data on some websites). kinda sucks when i see a few miles of rolling hills before me with a 20+ mph headwind. i'll be pedaling my ass off to look down and see 7 mph up a slight incline and only get up to about 13-14 on the slight decline. my last 2 rides have been in milder winds, and it's amazing. now if this rain would stop. |
Around here all we have is head winds and it is up hill no
matter what way you go. Those that have lived in or visited Northwest Arkansas know what I mean! |
I am hoping to one day discover what you all mean by this ellusive tail-wind?? It just never seems to happen for me.
|
I prefer a tailwind both ways (happened once with my commute) but I almost always get lucky enough to have a headwind both ways :(
Definitely I prefer headwind out and tailwind back when I am tired but it never seems to work out that way. |
I like the tailwind on my way out...but that's because I'm usually running late for work :D
|
As long as time is not a factor I don't worry about head or tail winds....it's the darn crosswind gusts that sometimes have me brushing up on my hail marys.
