After much searching and reading about the benefits of a wider tire I decided to try out the 28c Continental 4 Season on my Cannondale Synapse. After searching the threads, the only information I found was that 25c would most likely fit but 28c would be trial and error.

Well, the tires fit with plenty room to spare and I can pull them off without having to deflate the tires first.

They also fit on my Jamis Quest but no pictures of that.

To me, The 28c tires do offer a much 'better' ride feel than 23c's. I haven't noticed if there is any discernible difference in top speed, but I do feel they do take longer to spin up to speed.

I like them for centuries, solo rides and easy paced charity type rides but I'd rather have 23's for the town line sprints and whenever you are with a bunch of people that you know are going to mix it up a few times throughout the ride. It could just be my perception though.

I would have pulled the trigger on the tires much earlier if I had known they would fit for sure.

I do like rolling on lower pressure tires for general cruising around town.

Anyone else riding 28c's on their road bike? I'm sure the information could be helpful to others out there.

Is the 28 4Seasons a true 28?

If you compare a 25 Ultra race 23 to a GP 4000 23, the Ultra race is narrow and the GP4000 is a true 23. The Ultra Race is more like a 21 (?). Some tires of the same brand measure differently compared to one another.

As is the Serfas. A 25 is more like a true 23 and the 28 like a 25.

I wonder if like the Ultra Race, the 4 Seasons is narrow? I've never used the 4S so I haven't compared the two to one another.

I'm not sure if it is a true 28c tire but I can tell you that the 28c 4Season>25c 4000S> 23c 4000S. No calipers to measure though.

28mm 4Season is wider than a 25mm Gatorskin and also much wider than 23mm Gatorskin. It is also wider than 25mm Schwalbe Ultremo.

I went from ribmo 28's to rimbo 35's and couldn't be happier!

Fat tires on my town cross check! priceless!

ProRace2 25s, which supposedly measure large, fit nicely.
Rivendale 28s that supposedly measure 27 are just a hair too large for my brake (ultregra) clearance.
