Now I've done it...

I let my coworker go ahead and register us as a relay team of 2 for the Tri Indy on August 7. He's swimming and running, I'm handling the cycling leg. As I understand it, we're doing "Olympic-class" distances, which means I'm going to be doing a 25-mile TT.

In a nod to all the inspiration I've found here on BF, we're officially "Team HTFU."

Go Craig! I like the name - now it's time to hone those TT skills. Do you have your disk rear-wheel, aero front wheel, aero-bars and one of those aero-helmets? Oh, and don't forget the aero shoe covers.

Seriously though, congrats on taking on another challenge - I'm sure you'll get even stronger as a result.

Not having done anything like that I find it hard to comment...but I think you are going to do great.

If not I can be on standby next to the road with a barrel of oil and a golf-club.

I didn't even know such a thing existed until he told me about it.

And I shaved when I was a citizen's class racer back in my 20s. Don't think I'll be doing it again.

For a second there I thought you wrote "I need to find a CLOWN who can swim and run" because that makes sense too.

I hate hairy legs; riding a bike gives me an excuse to solve the problem.

What a cool idea! I just did my first triathlon ever (just a sprint) and I gotta say, if I could put together a relay team to complete a triathlon, we'd be pretty sick. My brother runs ultra marathons, at least two of my friends were competitive swimmers, and I'm not TOTALLY slow on the bike. If we did a tri together, we probably wouldn't suck. Sounds like a lot of fun. Have a great time and make sure to update us all on how you guys do!

You should have a blast, Craig. If I hadn't recently sold my Syntace C2 Aero bars I'd have let you use them gratis.

Besides the usual training tips, before the race try to get in about three to five miles beforehand for warm up.
