Clipless...size 16 shoe???
The Clyde forum may not be the best place to ask, but can anyone recommend SPD shoes in a size 16? I have been using clips with running shoes because they are the only shoes that I have that will fit into the clip, but the soles are very flexible and are uncomfortable after a couple of miles. I would consider going clipless if I could find my size and a reasonable price. I found the Shimano SH-MT33L shoes available in Euro 50, but the sizing crossover chart shows these as 12.5/13. Most charts I have seen for other Euro sizes cross a size 50 to 15/16.
Anyone have any recommendations or experience with this? Is there another thread that I missed that you can link me to? Thanks!

Sounds like something is screwed up. I just bought a pair of those shoes in size 48. I am a size 12 and they have a little extra room.

Most of the shoe companies seem to engage in blatant false advertising when it comes to larger sizes; If you look at the different brands, and the sizing charts of the sides of their shoeboxes, they are all different. I've got size 13-14 feet and after looking for a few months, have never found any that fit my feet regardless of what the size is on the box (50-53). And I won't pay mega-$$$ for custom-made shoes. I've given up and now am satisfied with some fairly stiff court shoes (the type used on tennis courts). I'm also thinking of getting some stiff poly-type material and making some inserts, since the major advantage in clipless-type shoes seems to be the fully-rigid sole.

My size Euro48 Sidis fit my USA size 13 feet just fine. Euro 50 should be bigger. Have you talked to an LBS about ordering some shoes?

It's not often I say this, but Performance just made my day. I stopped by this afternoon to check out their sale. They had a tent in the parking lot for clearance items. Sitting on the table in front of me were some Sidi Dominator 5 shoes in size 52. They were marked at $160 which was out of my price range. I tried them on anyway and they fit like a glove. When the manager saw that they fit, he offered them to me for $100. He was afraid that he would never find a buyer. I couldn't pass them up! I can say without a doubt that Sidi size 52 is approximately the same as a US size 16.

Interesting. Even if I could find those shoes, however, I'm out of the game for clipless/shoes.
I'm size 16 and also have tarsal tunnel syndrome going on in one foot. I have orthotics to squeeze into any shoe I wear and have to have a wedge inserted into the interior side to rotate my foot outward. The result of not following this advice is excruciating pain. Been there. Won't go there any more.
My foot doctor almost told me to stop cycling but I promised I was pressing down with the center of my foot, not the toes. I'm forbidden from doing calf-raises at the gym.
I had purchased a set of Power Grips over a year ago. Good thing as their website seems to be nonfunctional. I plan to fit them on my next bike. It's about as close as I can get to use something other than plain, flat pedals.
