Why hello 6 mile mark. Was nice to meet you now EAT MY DUST!
Busted the 6 mile mark. Month and a half ago I could barely do 1 mile. Now I did a 6.3 and still felt good afterwords. Bottom of my feet hurt was all. Only stopped for less than a minute to drink some water. (Kinda hard with mister gut to do it riding)
Not only did I do it, but I did it in 100 degree Texas heat! Woot for me! I love biking and my only regret is I wasted some 15 years of my life not riding. |
I remember my first 6 mile ride.
I had to stop three times to get my breath. |
Fantastic, Danintexas!! Yay! http://yoursmiles.org/tsmile/rulez/t2018.gif
There'll be no stopping you now! |

I had to stop three times to get my breath. We are planning on going to a race in Waco mid September. We are certainly not doing a 100k lol. I am hoping to get in gear in time to do the 10 mile. It is a start. Thankfully I live in Houston so winter will still be fine for biking for the most part. Hoping next Spring to do my first 25 mile. But for now it was 6. Now I have my sights on 7. |
League City here. Where bouts are you?
|
Stafford
Once I get up to speed we might have to ride sometime. But from what I have seen of your posts - that is a long ways from where I am at. lol |
That would be fun.
I could ride to you for a 10 mile ride then ride back home. |
Looks about 33-35 one way.
Once I hit the 10 mile mark I will let you know. Please keep in mind I am on a mountain bike and pretty slow. I average about 7-10 mph during my ride. Sent you an email. Or I will in about 30 sec |
No problem. That is how most of us started.

My dad got himself a bike this last weekend. He used to do a ton of 100k rides all over Texas back in the 90s.

it took me until just last week t realize i was putting my shoes on too tight for riding. They were fine at the start, but my feet swell just a little bit when i ride, and that was causing various aches and pains. loosened them up a tad and pains all magically went away.
And congrats on the ride! i remember my 5 mile accomplishment, i was proud! |
Skater shoes are stiff and tough, they help keep the feet from hurting. They look different than anything else I wear and they don't go to the grocery store. I got my first pair on sale for about $20 from Academy. Congrats on the improvement and keep at it. Hope Don sends some rain, I'm east of you and need the wet.

Congrats Danin. Pretty soon you'll look back on this and see how far you've come.

What shoes are you riding in? Try switching to something with a stiffer sole, like hiking boots or hiking shoes.

When I started I found leaping from 5 or 6 to 10 or 20 wasn't hard at all. That 25 mile ride isn't that far away. Bet you can get there by the end of next month if you want.
Same here. First ride this season was 10 (after 6 years off), and within a month I was doing 35. That range isn't really tough once you get acclimated to the bicycle. Made the jump to 65 the next month, but I'm hitting a brick wall around there, so we'll see how this next month goes. |
I love this thread title! Congrats!
