What saddle do you use?
Getting back on the bike after 2 years. Gained a lot of weight during the time off. I use a Fizik Arione saddle now but am looking at the Versus. I know my but is going to be sore but with a added weight my sitbones really hurt!

On my commuter and distance bikes I have Brooks B17 or B17 Imperials.
On my CX bike I have a Selle Italia Diva gel flow. (More comfortable than a Brooks for flying remounts)

On my hybrid, I've got a Cloud9 (forget which exact model) that I like a lot. Just yesterday I got a Bontrager SSR for my roadie. 31 miles this morning and it felt really good. Both were under $30. The SSR was 24.99. I almost bought a Cobb V Flow for $150. Glad I tried the Bonnie first.

On my Roubaix i use a Brooks B17 - awesome saddle. On my Trek Fx (Hybrid) I use a Planet Bike ARS saddle. The ARS is very comfortable for local rides and commuting and cost less than $30...

I tried lots of saddles pre 04. Only thing I found comfy for the roadie was an MTB saddle. WTB Rocket V. In 05 I finally tried a Terry Fly and it worked great for me right out of the box.
I don't have a commuter and the Brooks are butt ugly on roadies IMO. So I'd never do that to my roadie no matter how comfy they are.

Brooks B17 and Specialized Toupe Expert. Both are pretty darn comfy, but I haven't done a century on the Toupe yet and I'm not sure if it will be as comfy past 70-ish miles as the B17.
I think that a Brooks looks good on just about any steel bike; I do agree though that there's something not quite right looking about a Brooks saddle on a sporty Al or CF road bike. JMHO.

go to a trek or specialized shop where they have a "butt-o-meter". You sit on this plastic pad, and your sit bones make dents that are then measured. After many years of suffering on a 132 mm wide Flite, I tried a 145 mm Trek/Bontrager RL saddle based on the BOM measurement, and the wider saddle was about 10,000 times more comfortable. It more about a saddle with the right shape for your width and shape, not the current fashion...

Tried out a WTB Speed V Comp last month on someone's recommendation. It was better than my old saddle from miles 0-20, but after mile 20 it just caused so much pain in my butt I couldn't handle it anymore.
Went with a Brooks Champion Flyer (B17 with springs). I've done 50 miles on it now, 30/20. Feels great so far!

Beanz, I don't think any of us has to worry about people looking at the saddle under our butts. Just saying.

It's not the "while riding" view that would break my heart. .....The pics of my roadie with a view in the background and a butt ugly saddle sticking out like a sore thumb, that would be heart breaking. I'd quit taking bike pics

Factory saddle was small enough for a child.....
so I went to a Specialized dealer, had the distance between my sit-bones measured, and $88 later I walked out with a Specialized with some kinda wannabe gel. I had no idea how forgiving the Specialized was until I started messing with a couple Brooks saddles. For over 400 miles, the Specialized worked fine breaking my butt in for bicycle riding.
Then I paid $60 for a used Brooks B17'S' ("short, for ladies"), comfortable but took forever to get the angle, fore & aft, and seat post height dialed in. After I dialed it all in, I realized that it was too short (at the rear of the saddle) for my fatt butt.
Settled on a used $95 Brooks B17 Imperial with it's central cut out. Long enough at the rear, knew what I was getting into w/regard to adjusting it, dialed it in, still treating it with Proofhide, then I had to exchange my XS bike @ REI for a Small Novara. The rails under the saddle did not permit me to adjust the seat back far enough to get my feet/legs in the correct position for the pedals..... an indication that the bike I originally bought was too small. Got a size larger Novara Randonee, between my larger bike and Brooks saddle,
LIFE IS GOOD!
