SE PA, NJ: Anyone else riding the "City to Shore"?
Just wondering if anyone here will be riding the City to Shore ride in September. I've heard that the cross-NJ route is fairly flat. The NJ Pine Barrens aren't hilly, but I'm always nervous -- especially when I'm signed up for two 75 mile days back-to-back.

I've done it twice, but I'm not doing it this year. The only climb of note are the two bridges into Ocean City. And they are more feared than they should be. Yes, they are climbs, but not bad at all.

I've been thinking about it since I started this whole "get healthy" kick about a year and a half ago. Maybe this is the year to do it?

I will be doing my 20 consecutive this year.
Minimum fundraising requirement is actually $300.
There are a few other sections that have some relief to them. There are a few big rollers around the Cherry Hill area on Kresson. You will feel them more coming back on Sunday since they are near the end. On Saturday, there is a long, slow slog up a mile or so after you cross SR 73 on Braddock Mill, Kettle Run and Sycamore. Coming back on Sunday you will have another long, gentle uphill stretch on Moss Mille Rd. coming towards Hammonton. It won't look like much, but it can grate on you, especially if there is a headwind.
There is certainly no "climbing" as I would define that word. But it's not as flat as riding though the shore towns. The nice thing is that the stops are pretty close together if you need them. And if you start early, you have a long time to complete the route. And at the end, there are usually hot dogs and pierogies. Raise $1,000 or more and you get a boxed chicken lunch with baked potato at the finish.
Aside from the registration cap, you have to worry about finding a place to stay. As you can imagine, it's a busy weekend. Don' expect to find something cheap at this point, but you might get lucky. Some of our team is staying in a rental with 4 outdoor decks and a 50" HDTV. I have seen pictures of the place. It's sweet.

Does anyone have a link to the event and when is it? I didn't think I could even do it at my level of riding at this point but would be interested in possibly showing up in OC. My family has a home in Sea Isle that I can use to stay over.
