My Athena wife "rocked it" today!!!

My wife will never toot her own horn, so I will do it for her. Before today, her longest ride was about two miles. Somehow I convinced her to join me on an organized 40 miler today. We started out at a nice slow pace, since I had my 6 year old in tow on her trail-a-bike, plus a hilly section. She has never really done a lot of hill climbing, but after working with her a little bit on her gear selection, she did better. We made the first rest stop in good shape at 18 miles. The next section was hilly, and it was a little too much. Her knee was hurting so, I adjusted the saddle height, which helped, but the damage was done. She made it to the next rest stop at 26.5 mile where we had them call the SAG wagon to take her in. My daughter said that she wanted to finish, so we did just that. So I very proud of both my gals. Mrs. Hill-pumper did her longest ride at 26.5 mile with 850 feet of elevation gain, and my little pumper completed the 40 miles pedaling the whole time. As a former Clyde myself, I know the effort that it takes to even attempt such things. I hope you mind me bragging a little about the wife.

That is an amazing feat -- and on a hilly course on top of it! Way to go!

If it had not been for her knee pain, she was confident that she could have done the the whole 40.

I know that I have not posted here for awhile, I'll start another thread about that, but this needs to be about my wife and daughter.
