Got a nice ride in today 10/16 of 25.1 miles, got the replacement saddle on Friday but didn't ride yesterday and the winds here were in the 30mph to 40mph range most of the day. Anyways this brings my total for the month to 59.6 miles Still got time to make it and next weekend is looking good for riding.

Had a nasty cold and wet ride of 31 miles today and still loved it. I went over 150 today for the second month in a row. I am hoping to get to 250 this month as long as the weather cooperates.

10/2 19
10/4 20
10/5 12
10/7 22
10/9 28
10/14 23
10/16 31
------------
Total 155

I am not doing well on the challenges now. I did great in August. In Sept I had some little surgeries and was not allowed to exert myself for a week here and a week there.. Then October started out with a bad fall off the bike and hurting my shoulder :-( If I make my 100 this month, it will be a surprise to me. Is it possible to commit to a challenge that is even lower than 100 miles? I think I should be committing to 30 or 50 and hope that I can exceed it.....

Wreader, I say do what you need to do to get out there. Pick a goal that will challenge you and work for it, even if it doesn't quite fit with the chef's challenge. How many miles do you have in for the month so far?

How is your shoulder doing?

Last week was very challenging with a busiess trip and 2 days of family commitments out of town.
I was able to ride 42 miles, bringing the MTD total to 158.
This week looks more promising!

Got my bike back up and in working order today as the tires finally came in. So I've been teaching my nephew to ride in my free time and he seems to love it. Was able to get 3 miles in on my bike tonight on the local street up by Wal-Mart and back. Really nice cool ride, minimal traffic, and I feel good. May try for 5+ tomorrow morning.

Total MTD: 155.8 miles

Yesterday, I finished the 120 mile Half Moon Bay to Carmel ride with 3 friends. Overall, it was a great ride. My left knee was really bothering me yesterday though.

Left knee is still aching from that ride over a week ago. I may have to sit out the rest of the month.

Thanks Goldfinch. My shoulder still hurts, although it is slowly getting better. 16 days since my wreck. I landed very hard on my shoulder trying to get the hang of my new "clip less" pedals. Those pedals have since been moved to the spin bike. I saw an orthopedic surgeon who told me it was probably not serious, (nothing torn) but to take it easy. I have been taking it easy now for over two weeks. Pain meds and icing it.

for the month, I have only ridden three days. If i get out three or four times before the end of the month, I will be doing good. I got very discouraged and came up with all kinds of excuses not to ride since my crash. I have a couple of days off later this week, and if it is sunny, I will be able to get a few miles in. I am a little frustrated by how easily I could get so discouraged.

Best laid plans and all that jazz. Car accident (bruised ribs, totalled car) in early Oct led to two weeks of no biking.

Just got back on the horse tonight. No way I'm making 225. 100, maybe.

/sigh.
