Still no response from Selle, I am starting to think this was a fishing expedition.

As the original poster, I'm going to be pretty pi$$ed off if this is the case. I don't care how good their products are, I will become a serial basher of the company if you don't receive what was promised.

Selle An-Atomica is a small company, and they're probably busy with the logistics of getting saddles out to the beta testers, etc. They're good people, and I really don't think their solicitation for beta testers was really just phishing.

I got a nice email saying I was not picked for their testing, but offering me a small discount for trying to get to test.

Below is a copy of a second e-mail (sent yesterday). Still no response, don't know what to think about this. I can understand some delay in sending the seats out, but how long does it take to type a short e-mail explaining the delay? Perhaps they don't have a seat and were just testing the water to see if it would be worth producing one for a 200+ lb person.

Hi Ryan, Jim Catlette here... per your e-mail below you mentioned that you would be contacting me to give me instructions on what to do to review your new Titanico X saddle. I hope that I have not missed an e-mail or an attempt to contact me. I am very much looking forward to riding this saddle and giving you feedback. Hope to hear from you soon. I will be doing the Horrible Hundred in about two weeks and that will be an excellent time to showcase your product. This three day event draws about 2000 riders and hundreds of others at the supplier show. This event is put on by the Florida Freewheelers (my club) and is the primer bike club in Florida.

Thanks,

I am very happy to report that as of 8:16 PM today I have heard from Sella and things are moving forward. I am very anxious to give this saddle a try.

Glad to hear this. Now I won't have to boycott one of my favorite products.

I was probably a little quick to to criticize them. I have had 3/4 e-mails from them over the weekend and now have a web page that I will log into to do a ride report after each ride. I ordered the mahogany color as my first choice and black as my second choice. I was really close to ordering a Brooks when I saw the post that c.miller64 mentioned. So c.miller64 thanks for possibly getting me into a new saddle.

I'm not the target audience for Selle An-Atomica's "X" model (I weigh 205), but I'm the very happy owner of two of their saddles (Original Clydesdale model, and newer Titanico model). I've ridden lots of different saddles (including several Brooks), but none compare to my Selle An-Atomica's. And as I wrote here, the highest compliment that I can bestow on them is that I didn't think twice before spending the $$$ for my second one.

MileHighMark, I guess it can't get much better than that. BTW I just purchased an Adamo about 10 weeks ago and it is the best that I have ever ridden so I am looking forward to the TitanicoX more than ever now. The Adamo just started showing up here in Orlando a few month ago and they are selling. If this Titanico is as good as you and the manufacture say it is my daughter will be sitting on the Adamo.

My impression is yes they are going after the B 17 market. I think the main difference is you don't have to treat the Selle with proof hyde. Just my opinion...

Goals of Titanico X

The goal of Titanico X is to deliver to heavier riders the same level of comfort that riders under 200 lbs. have enjoyed with the Titanico . One of the ways we will achieve this is by modifying our manufacturing process to produce a stiffer leather that will not stretch under the additional weight.

Realistically, anyone who has experienced over stretching with our saddles in the past is a good candidate for Titanico X.

I'm very interested in how this testing turns out. I've got SAs on our tandem and my single and have a new single on the way at 17 lbs. Wouldn't mind a lighter version of the same excellent saddle on the new ride.

I'm really looking forward to hearing how the new saddle works out. Mostly the stretching issue many have delt with. I've been close to buying the current offering several times but have held off. I'm down to 212 from 225, but my goal is 185. So maybe the new version will be too firm for me. Please keep us posted on the testing. Thanks!
