Almost 12 miles. PR for me.
11.6 miles. I could have gone another 5-10 miles, I think, but had an epic Clip fail. Lol. I actually pulled ahead of Martin and Daniel because they had stopped for a second. I kept going to pull over to the right and stop to wait on them. Unclipped my right foot because I was gonna rest my hand on a fence. Slowed down and leaned left. Lol. Busted my ass again. My left elbow and knee hate me now.
It was awesome riding with Daniel (Dahamac) and Martin (Punkncat). I could not have asked to be with two nicer guys for a ride. I slowed them down, and not one time did I hear them complain. They helped me a. Lot with my technique and were all around fun to ride with. Thanks guys for helping me! I actually stopped because my knee was getting puffy and I was afraid it was gonna swell up on me. Im still proud of my little effort. I know 11.6 miles is a warmup for most, but it was a milestone for me. |
Great job!

Congratulations! I know it took me a couple of months before I could do 10 miles. You are moving right along!
|
Good for you Allen. It took me almost 2 months before hitting 11 miles. Take your time and enjoy the ride.
|
Excellent! Just keep chipping away at it. Every time you get on the bike, you win the battle.
|
amazing Allen! Great job! Before you know it, you will be riding more and more and more and then look back and see your old posts and a smile will appear on your face. Great job!

Nice but why in the world would yout stop and place a hand on the fence. Stop, disengage both feet, both on ground straddle top tube. Anything else is a risk. You will continue to fall if you don't make a proper stop on the bike. ;)

Setting a personal record is always an exhilarating feeling, and, as an added bonus, it gives you a new goal. :D
|
Im kind of embarrassed about my "PR". It is what most people would consider a warm up. But, dadgummit, I did it and it was further than I had ever gone.
|
12 miles is great! Congrats! How is the knee? Swelling does not sound good....
|
Well done!
|
It's just puffy around where the ground came up to meet it. Not really swollen. Elbow is busted, but not real sore. I think it hurt worse because I fell on that SAME knee 4 days ago. Ill be fine! I wanna go out tomorrow and do a recovery ride of 5-8 miles just to keep the blood flowing in my legs. Depending on how I feel, may go further.

For me distance never was a big deal, it was feet climbed. Once I could make climbs out of the San Fernando Valley the sky was the limit. |
Keep it up! Soon it will be 15, 20, etc...................................
Well done, even with the fall. Did that myself about 2 weeks ago as I was stopping for a water break..................................of course there had to be someone that saw me |
Allen,
Great job today. I am glad you had a good time with us, I know that I did. Your fall over was no big deal, I have done it, and I am sure others here have done it as well. Time in the saddle will make everything work out. Just continue to have fun and keep that positive attitude you had today. It will be a breese for you. When I started riding again going one mile was an accomplishment. At that time going to the stop sign up the street seemed like a big deal. More time riding and now that stop sign is across the county....You will get there if you stick with it. You already have powerful legs, you just have to condition your muscles and your respiration to going farther. That takes a bit of time, and offers the time you need to work out the little kinks that experience will teach you to avoid. I look forward to riding with you again soon. |
congrats :thumb:

Great job and it sounds like you had great buddies to help you along...:)

Secondly, please stop comparing yourself to others in a self-deprecating way. Your companions rode with you because they wanted to meet you and liked your company. Accept that fact. Like yourself. That said, I'm glad you had a good time, and your clipless fall didn't lead to an injury. |
Good for you, it's always awesome to go on a nice long ride with others! Just remember, the only person's mileage you need to worry about is your own. Keep working to go further, and it will happen. (now go ice that knee!)
|
You did great, and don't feel a bit embarrassed.
BTW the first time I did 20 miles I told everybody. I'm still proud of that, given my condition at the time. |
