Question on trainer for a Super Clyde and happy thanksgiving to all
 

Right. In the market for a indoor trainer since its safer than riding in the dark with all the idiots on the way home from work at 7 pm at night. I am 6'6" and 360 lbs. Was looking at the Elite Power Fluid RITMO Trainer but can't find anything on it here that is current or applicable to folks like us. Don't want a roller by the way. Its going to hold my Merchx EMX-3 and my Cannondale MB. Good idea or is there something better in a comparable price range?

I shopped around, purchased and really like the CycleOps Fluid 2 - why? Its rated for up to 1200 lbs :) and has a true quick-release mounting system. I can put my road bike on or off the trainer in less than 30 seconds. I previously had a trainer where you had to screw in the bracket that holds the rear wheel in place and retension the roller with every mount/dismount. It was a hassle because everytime I wanted to take the bike off or put the bike on the trainer, I had to go through a setup ritual.

I bought a Kurt Kinetic Rock and Roll. From my experience the resistance unit is excellent but the frame isn't able to hold up Clydes. After buying it, I found out in the small print that it isn't suited to riders over 250 lbs. Since I hover right around the limit, I kept it, but put the legs on 2x4 blocks to stop my wheel rubbing on the floor.

The regular Kurt Kinetic trainer doesn't have this problem and uses the same excellent resistance unit.
