2011 Total Distance

Some of you may be done for the year and others may be going to the bitter end (depending on weather condition in your area). Feel free to enter your total distance on the year. No amount is too small or too far. This is not a competition.

Weasel -

Regretfully, I have been done for this year since last week...end-of-year crush at work through this Saturday at 4 pm, dark here in Lancaster PA and a 40 minute ride home. Blah. Anyway, my 2012 miles will start on Sunday! Original 2011 goal after I started riding again after 30 years: 500. Moved it to 750, then 1000.

Finished at...... 901.

2012 Goal: 3000

Probably somewhere in the 5,000 mile range thus far, but I need to dig up some notes to say exactly. I've had three bikes this year - may the RS rest in peace.

Also somewhere in the ballpark of 135,000 to 150,000 feet of elevation gain, eg climbing.

Great Job! I didn't crack 10,000 this year (bad weather at the start of the year), but have managed over 9,000.

I'll have 80 or more between Friday & Saturday. This little widget should update automatically to reflect new totals...

Hoping to get at least a couple more rides in even if they are short ones. Need to add up the total distance but hoping it's north of 2500 miles - I set myself a target of covering the equivalent Tour de France distance even if I did take the full year to do it (technically 10 months since I was away travelling for 2 months).

Made it to 1502 today. My goal was to hit 1500 for the year. I started last spring, had November and half of December off. I haven't decided what next year's goal is going to be, or if I am going to go month by month.

Sitting at 3,506 which I hopefully will add to on Saturday. Should be around 3,550 when I'm done for 2011. My goal was 3,000 so I obviously made that. Shooting for 4,000+ for 2012.

Ok I did 1403 miles this year and that was almost double what I did last year so that's all I wanted to do. Now it's on to the Icycle ride on Jan 1, 2012 to start out next year for me. Hope everyone had a good year and made the miles they were try to reach & if you didn't you can do it this up and coming year.

3474, maybe a few more by the end of the year. My worst year in about 10 years.

Gina's at 2720, her worst year in about 4 years.

It's not over yet, but as of Thursday, I'm at "approximately" 9489.58 miles. If I do 250 on Friday and a bit more on Saturday I could break 10K for the year.

Should I go for it?

I have 3277 miles logged and more unlogged when I felt like a slave to the numbers. This includes trainer miles because they're harder motivational-wise. A year ago I would have thought 1000 miles was insane. Next year who knows? I'm going to hit the trainer harder and put more structure into my riding. Whether that means more miles or less I haven't figured out yet. I took the advice of one of the race guys in the 50+ forum. He said "The first year just ride. Don't train. Learn to love cycling first." Good advice. My average speed went from 12 mph to 14 mph probably attributed to switching to a road bike. So I'm still pretty slow. I did finally meet a local guy that did his first Metric Century this year. Another friend wants to get back into cycling as a shoulder injury sidelined him this year. The Y has spin classes now. With all this maybe a club will form.

250 in 1 day?!!? I can't imagine doing that in 2 weeks! Sure - go for it.

I have 4776 this year, I planned on more but have been slacking as of late. I'll get in 20 tonight @ Critical Mass and plan on riding 50 on my single speed with studded tires on Sat....come on snow.

I have 150+ miles (not included above) that someone stole from me when they stole my Garmin from my handlebar bag...

With going back to school and working as well, I didn't get as much time to ride as I'd like. I split my riding time between a few different bikes, so I'm not sure on the exact number, but somewhere around 2500 miles.

Juggled my schedule around and setting a goal of 3000 for next year.

I'm at 1634 miles. Nearly evenly split between road and dirt. The dirt includes a bit of CX racing; which lowers the mileage but definitely raises the intensity. Had my biggest month at 255 in June.
Should get past 1650 manana.
Next year's goal? At least 2000.
