There are other options to "fast foods", if I am in a bind I usually hit up a Trade Joes or even a market. There you an get healthy alternatives, like fruits sandwiches etc. Heck even go to a sandwich place where you can control what they put in it. It is very easy once you look beyond a fast food joint.

In my world of post gastric bypass surgery, protein ranks #1 on the list with lower fat being tied with low carb counts (from processed sugar sources). Sodium is something to watch for but by drinking 64 oz plus a day, gets take care of.

But when was the last time I had Wendy's? When I was traveling for work - otherwise, I don't touch it!!

Sodium isn't bad for you unless you have high blood pressure and are sensitive to the stuff. Love Wendy's chili but I'm afraid a baked potato is basically an empty carb.

actually sodium is not the best for you if you eat too much of it. You retain water which is not good.

Mcd's isputting the kcals on the box/wrapper; I think the cals on the menus are coming; just depends on the owner when it happens. The owners do it as quickly or slowly as they desire; some will hold off till forced. I don't blame them; the plastic for the menus arre high end for what they are. For the 12 meal set up we have at the store I wirk in the set we got 2 or 3 years back were $200.00 to $300.00; while a small amount it still has to be spent for something that ain't broke. Especially when the tray lineshavemoost of it and all the folks with smart phones, laptop (free wifi you know); tabletcan look the cals oon the web!

I don't care what you guys say. I eat will still have the occasional Quarter Pounder with Cheese or two Mc Doubles while out on long rides. I realized that my portions were too big before and I rarely have soda. I started using Sparkpeople.com and watching what I eat. When I ate pure healthy food, I wasn't losing weight. Now I eat what I used to eat but in smaller portions. Last year at this time, I had hit 240 lbs. I am currently at 198 lbs. Some will say that I would've lost more with healthier foods but I just had a physical and with the exception of enlarged heart (caused by overexerting myself... yes exercise is to blame), I turned out fine. Not bad for a guy about to turn 40 in September. I've never been a chips and candy guy, but I love my streaks and burgers. Not a fan of fries either. Just not a fanof the taste of fried foods in general. Never have been. Mc Donald's burger are actually some of the better ones out there when you're calorie counting. It's the other stuff that spoils it. Fries and drinks can easily take you over the top. I do eat some healthy food but I don't let it stop me from spoiling myself often too. I just eat and record what I eat. If it's too high, I know next time to cut back. My friend followed my advice and has gone from 356 lbs. in June to 269 as of Monday by just cutting back on her portions and exercising six days a week for an hour. She's still eating most of the same stuff she ate before.

Personally, I like Meatheads for spoiling myself .
Just burgers and fries done right .
And for those of you who don't eat meat,
there are hotdogs .
Recording what you eat is a good idea.
Keeping rack of your calories
let's you know how much you have to ride .

Meatheads? Must be a regional joint. Slightly above Normal? Somewhere in Illinois, perhaps?

About 3 miles NE of Normal . I'd figure . Had no idea it was regional. Bloomington-Normal , thanks to 3 Interstates,
2 Universities and a couple of colleges as well as a big insurance company, gets a lot of traffic, as well as restaurants . one of the highest concentrations per capita in the U.S. .

I like what Jack In The Box did with their online menu. It is interactive, so I select my meal and then can add and remove fries, bun, drink, condiments and see exactly how it changes cal, sodium and carbs (my main concern). I wish they all did that, but ok.

Starchy carbs are evil for me as well as certain refined carbs.

OP, you should thank the guvement, not McD, for getting those numbers made more public.

Since I got back on the quest for an active/fit lifestyle - I have avoided almost all fast food for a year (well a year on 2/12). I have not had a cheeseburger, fries, fried chicken in any form, or really any fast food. It is easy now - I don't even think about it. A year ago a McD's double cheese was my meal of choice. I am amazed at how little I have to monitor my diet once I cut my biggest diet downfall of fast food.

Since the depression of 2008 ,
I haven't really been in the habit of
eating out as I was.
I got out of the habit of eating at McDonalds,
and certainly don't care for it as much
as I did before .
