I'm ever - so - close to the 30 pound weight loss mark! On Weight Watchers online since I posted the OP (late January) I've lost 1.2 pounds per week. This is right on schedule for the plan. Right now my main issue is impatience. It's easy to get discouraged and I wish the pounds would come off faster, but I'm losing at a safe rate. I'm almost at the half-way mark!

Its been up and down for me for hte past few weeks because of surgery, kidney stones and stent. I have another surgery tomorrow. Working out.... riding and walking... kill me. So we will see. I hope to get this fixed soon!

Just checking in. Had the grandchildren for a week, interfered with my schedule but this am I weight 247 down from 279 January 29 and this am I had my fastest ride ever. 47 miles at 17.4mph. Apparently it's easier to get 247lbs up the hill than 279lbs even if the hills aren't that big. I keep wondering what it would be like at 207.

I agree with that! Our weight loss is very close, you started at 279; me 275, and currently you are 247 and I'm 245, that's as close as you can get. The thing I'm noticing also is how much easier it is to ride my bike! I guess the best way to get a lighter, more responsive bicycle is to use a lighter engine lol

This has been a real trying past four weeks. The kidney stones and stent made it impossible to ride or exercise but I learned a lot from it:

The bad: June 10th I was 283.4 which is the lowest I have been. Then I got the stones. June 24th I was up 288.4 and yesterday, July 10th, I WI at 295. So up 11.6 pounds since my June 10th WI. This was despressing but it is a journey.

I learned a lot from this:

1- though I could not exercise like cycling or walking, if this happens again, I will do swimming or upperbody stuff. I wish I thought of that during the process.
2- I eat more when I am not active and eat when I am bored. I am usually not bored and not active so this was new for me.
3- Wish I would have tracked more while this was going on.

The other great news was that I rode my bike to work and also to the WW meeting too. 33 miles of commuting. he he he he

Since I've been commuting on my bike (about 6 months now) I've lost size (I don't know about weight, I rarely stand on a scale) and have gone from XXXL shirts to XXL, and I feel a lot better and am more mobile, however I still have a problem with food and want to understand it and control it better. Anyone else here use WW?
Since I posted this OP in January, on Weight Watchers along with Bicycling I've lost 41-1/2 pounds and now am down to XL shirts. BP is 115 over 70 (taken weekly) and my normal RHR is about 43. My rate of weight loss is just a little over 1 pound per week, which is fine with me because the program is teaching me to eat correctly (content and amounts) rather than crash diets would. Thanks for taking the time to read my update - only 23+ more pounds to lose until goal weight. Onward and downward!

great job! You got it.

I am in the same boat as you. I think it is my reliance on sugary foods (refined sugar) so I am trying to kick the habit. Day one was ok, day two I failed so I am back to day one.

I have the WI tonight. A little nervous. Ate a lot in New Orleans. But have been riding a lot too. Hopefully there is a balance there!

That is freaking awesome!

You know I find that laying off the sugary foods have helped because if I ate something like a cookie it will lead to many cookies and I blow so many points. Now I watch what I eat more and more and I use less points and can eat more stuff within my points without going over.

I cannot wait to get out of the 280s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We haven't updated this thread in a while. How is everyone doing?

I had some increased weight from the holidays but learned a lot from it. My goal is to be down to 250 pounds by end of December this year. Lofty goal but doable.

Lately, tracking has been going great. Mainly sticking with powerfoods which really does help. Staying away from foods that are sweetened with sugar too. This has helped as well.

Tomorrow is my second WI of the year. I was down 1.2 pounds last week.

I'm at 45 pounds weight loss since I posted the OP, with 20 more to lose. I plateaued during the holidays but I should be back on track as January progresses. I believe I'll make my goal weight in about June if I continue at my 1 pound per week weight loss. Lemme tell ya, friends, ol' Trac feels sooooooooo much better now than a year ago when we started this thread!

Had my WI this evening. Down 4.8 pounds!

My goal for 2013 is to be down 50 pounds to 250 pounds. That would be lovely!

This week has been great. Spot on with tracking, eating great, and feeling great too.

Anyone else here using the ActiveLink gadget from Weight Watchers? What are your thoughts? I like it but do not feel it's that accurate with measuring all the outdoor cycling I do. Then again in hindsight I probably peddle less on the road than I would on a stationary bike.....

There are many negative reviews of the gadget on Amazon.com. Most of them question its accuracy. The reason I have decided not to use one is that once I have it I can't manually update my activity.

I do bet you are right. Not sure if it will calculate it accurately or not. I just log it into WW. I know it may not be accurate either but whatever. It does not matter because I just want to document it and see the points increase. I never eat the activity points at all.

BTW, do you go to meetings in Baltimore? I went once when visiting and there is an awesome leader there. Cannot recall her name but she was awesome.
