A Moment of Reflection
As I was reading the "Clyde of the Year" thread, it got me thinking about a lot. Where I was, where I am and where I want to be. But the most important for me is to say THANK YOU to all of you who have answered all my daunting questions, helped me fix things, put up with my, well, immaturity and smart @assness, and be able to help me meet a lot of goals.
When I think about it, I dont know if I could have gottan where I am now. I moved out to NJ from Washington State on the 1st of July. Took me 7 days to drive out, alone, leaving my wife, family, a job I loved and my friends. But the move had to happen. The next day, the 2nd of July, I drove up north and bought two bikes.... a road bike and a mountain bike that I planned ot commute with. I knew work was only 11 miles away and I wanted to commute.
I thought this journey would be easy but it wasent. Your body is not the same as it once was when you were young. For me a mile felt like 20 miles. But as I look back on my old posts, everyone (pretty much at least) embraced a newbee and helped me out. And I ended 2011 with 1600 miles and at the end of Dec, I commuted about 8 times to work.
Riding has changed my life. Its been a way for me to see things, visit, meet people, travel, and burn calories.
Commuting to work has really helped me. Something about commuting to work that changes you. Its not about speed, its about the journey. I like that aspect of it.
I am thankful to have a group like this. I really am. Thank you all.
