Weekly Inspiration Network: WIN #4, Jan 30 - Feb 5

Welcome to the Weekly Inspiration Network!

Since many of us do a better job of sticking to our goals if we have a little public accountability, here's a way to get some support for your efforts towards a healthier you.

If this is your first time posting, let us know what is is you're trying to do, where you are now, and what your goal is. You might be trying to lose weight, or exercise more regularly, or home-cook more meals, or even spend more quality time with your family.

Then every week, let us know how you did the week before.

We'll read each others posts & cheer each other on.

Oh, and if Monday comes around and no one has started the new thread for the week yet -- feel free to copy this post, change the numbers and dates in the title, and get things started. Thanks!

Lost 1.5 lbs since last Monday, which is in line with the plan. (Between 1 and 2 lbs/wk.) Not much exercise - lots of travel, and lots of trying to catch up on stuff that fell by the wayside while I was out of town. I'll be home tomorrow, and hopefully won't have another trip for a month or so.

The good news is that I've been able to stick to the nutritional program while away - I brought my own food, so I'm avoiding restaurant junk, and I'm able to practice strict portion control.

Thanks Jen!

My goals for last week:

Maintain my weight
Find the guys I did the longer ride with and ride with them again
keep within my shopping budget
do some shorter but harder rides/intervals

I met all but one of my goals. I maintained my weight, coming in at 107 pounds. I rode with the guys on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and will be riding with them Wednesday again. I did some shorter, harder rides with one day where I did intervals.

I am having a shopping problem and really blew out my budget in part because Ibex is having a 50% off sale. I am over discretionary spending budget in excess of $400 this month, all in the last week. I can't even take it out of next month without immediately starting as a fail. I guess I'll start over and see if I can do better.

I'm getting my butt kicked! This weekend the weather was unseasonably warm, so I did a nice easy "D" ride with the local bike club. The nearby bike path has really been improved in the past few months. (For those who know the Schuylkill River Trail through Manayunk -- no more gaping holes in the bridge decking patched over with only a stop sign!) The ride was as flat as anyone could hope for, the route was a simple out-and-back -- and on the way back, I wanted to stop a few extra times to give my legs a break.

The fix for that is straightforward enough -- more riding!

I have been on the roller coaster for years and once again I'm back on it. My highest ever was 308lbs my recent best was 198lbs June 2010. Currently I'm 232lbs looking to top my best ever, my ultimat goal is to get below 180lbs by years end. Many reason for this; health is number one, secondly I want to be better during my MTB races, thirdly my son will be racing this year and I want to train him. Other reasons is I hate getting passed on hills, I have the power to hold my own against most guys but always a few who can sneak by me but when I ride under 200 the number of guys gets real low and I would love to see how I can perform at 180lbs.

Getting time to work out has been really hard this last week with lots of hours at work. I did manage a 9 mile run this weekend, so getting my mileage in anyway. Weighed in at 184 tonight, so a loss of 2 full pounds since last week. :)

I can do a century on the flats, if I take my time, but even gentle hills thwart me. So last night, when it was an unseasonable 55 degrees here, I rode home from work on a route with gentle hills. Ugh.

More power to you, you!

I have a love hate relationship with hills. I hate them when I'm on them but it seems I'm always on them..lol Both my brother inlaws call me the hill monger hahaha. When I'm under 220 everything changes on the hills and anything under 210 it get real interesting. I love being the big guy that can climb, it helps when others don't expect it.
