My latest trick to getting rides in - my 9 yr old son is a diver and has practice 4x a week. 5:30-7 on Mondays and Wednesdays and 4:15 to 6:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I've been throwing the bike in the back of the truck and riding while he's at practice. I'd go at lunch but my day always gets really busy, and later in the afternoon gets rough with impending kid pick-ups and soccer, diving, basketball etc. I'm just not a morning person (so I'm not getting up at 6 to go for a ride by myself, but I'll do it to get to a group ride by 8, go figure). So, if I'm good, I'll get at least 2 15 mile rides in while he's diving and nobody misses me while I'm gone. I work from home so I can't commute to work.

You just have to find the time I guess.

I work from home as well. My bike commute would be nice but the wife says it's dumb to try and clip in when I am just riding 15' :-O
Part of when got me to where I was (~270) was working from home and making the excuse.. "I'm too busy at work to even go outside". To quote my dad ... That dog don't hunt.
I now block out an hour of the day on my Ouch!Look calendar where I *KNOW* I will either get on the bike or just chase the dag gum dog round the yard.

Don't make the excuse that your day gets busy is the point I'm trying to make. You owe it to yourself AND your family to take an hour.

OK, today was #5 for a total of 94 miles. Looks like I'll hit 12 this month without too much trouble, even taking into account a Vegas vacation with some college buds.

If you haven't seen it, the Clyde Club on Strava.com is pretty slick and strava gives you a nice monthly summary of what you're up to.

I will play. I commuted twice and rode once this week. A friend wanted to start commuting and wanted me to ride it with him on Sunday just to see how it would work out time wise. He has a 5 mile rt commute. I would love that. I have 21 mile rt commute. I wanted to start commuting at least 3 days a week. The weather is not cooperating and my joints start hurting if I do multiple days in a row. Hopefully next week will be clear at least 3 days.

Have 4 rides in for the month so far. With the time change this weekend, I should be able to make the 12 rides with little problem.

I'd like to join your effort. I have been trying to ride 100 miles a week, and to do that I ride about 5 times a week. Usually four days to and from work, and one longer ride on the weekend takes care of it. So far in March I have 7 rides and 144.14 miles logged on Bike Journal. That means I'm half way there, and expect to ride about 40 miles tomorrow morning if I'm feeling better (been a little under the weather today for some reason)....

How do you join the Clyde group on strava...just got an account. I already use training peaks and harming connect, but thought I would give this one a try at least?

I am in trouble this week. It's cold windy and snowing/raining all week and forecasted to continue to early next week.

There is a bike skills clinic tomorrow night and if it's not raining I may still go

Argh, I"m stuck... have 9 rides in the bag, 187 miles but I've been exhausted. Must...overcome... going camping with the young man this weekend and got an untimely business trip to Canada starting next Wednesday. Should be able to squeak out 3 more rides.

As the originator of this thread I am embarrassed that I have only been on two rides this month. TWO! I'll see what I can do as far as numbers this month and of course improve next month.

10! I was feeling twitchy so I went out and blew off some carbon. IT was short but that's all that counts, right? 193 miles, I feel like hitting 200 tomorrow.

C'mon Monkey, get cracking. Two-a-days!

I did a combo walk/job today. Though it wasn't a bike ride I did get out and so something so I'm ok with it.

I generally leave in the morning and don't get back up until 10pm. Tough to fit my fitness in.

Phew. Hit 12 tonight, 222 miles. I thought it would be really easy to get 12 rides in but no! Vacations & business trips intervene but 222 is really a high water mark for me. I'll have to shoot for 250 in april.

Got my 12th ride tonight. 25.75 miles with the Grupetto riders. Have plans for rides the next 3 days so could make it 15 for the month.

I failed. I only got 2 days/week commute. 21mile rt commutes so the positive side is I did break the 100 in a month club for the first time this year!! I can already see that next month will be more. Tour de cure is the 14th so I feel I am ready for it now.

That's not a fail - fail would be 0 rides. What you did was come tantalizingly close, which will motivate you to get 12 in next month.
