For no reason other than curiosity, is the road closure due to avalanche risk, or just not being able to plow?
We asked about the boat ride on the lake and was told you just missed the last ride for the season the park would close for snow the next day. That was an odd thing to hear because it was about 80 and sunny. They told me the risk of a first snow at that elevation could happen any time on and that’s why they have that policy. That could be different now I haven’t looked in a number of years. They did relate stories of people being trapped up at the lake due to snow and they get you down and your car may well sit there till spring. Didn’t mean to take the thread off topic but my question did produce more photos of the lake J.

I am really not sure what it is. The boat ramp is on the left side of the picture, so I assume it is a weird dock. There were openings on the side but no cleats to dock your boat to. I couldn't tell how far it went into the water either. The picture was taken about 20ft down the thing. The park area was created by the CCC and is now maintained by the Corp of Engineers. I guess it was someones off the wall idea. I have always liked it though. One of my wifes favorite books is "Where the sidewalk ends," so the picture was for her.

Ha! Thanks. No trades. I need to keep this one for awhile, my accountant says. Wheels are Zipp 101s, cranks are the BBRight version. I can't distinguish one crank from another normally. This one turns the chain for me so it seems to be working so far

Road across a bit of Lake Erie and along Rocky River here in northeast Ohio this morning, but totally forgot to snap any picks at the lake.

Here are a few at the river:

Nice shots! I ride the towpath all the time usually from Harvard to Peninsula. Gotta love Cleveland's skyline from Voinovich.

Today I went out and about in Harrisburg. Here are a few shots from Italian Lake. The first is on the little bridge over the "lake" and the other from a nearby road.

While riding the Capital Area Greenbelt, I snapped a few shots overlooking the Susquehanna River.

I rode out onto City Island and took a picture on the "beach" with the state capitol in the background.

SF the riding is great, roads are clear although some sand and gravel in places. Permawind has yet to kick up although some days are windy, like today the forcast is for 20-30 mph westerly with gusts to 45 mph. Rule of thumb is if it is raining or cloudy on your side of the rock it will be windy here. Daily temps are still a bit on the cold side with highs upper 40's to low 50's.

it just occurred to me I can post this photo from Saturday.

This is my 20 year old GT Tequesta (with a brand new fork), my 7 year old son (with brand new gloves and helmet, now prize possessions) and our trail-a-bike at Lake Belwood, in Ontario. We had just finished a 14 km ride along a wet, soft railtrail.

Weirdly warm temperatures in SW ontario all week, above 20C, but ice still on the lake.

This also covers the "show us your commute" thread, elsewhere. It's along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, in Fairmount Park, on a section of the Schuylkill River Trail called Kelly Drive.

This is the scenery that got me back on my bike. How could I not pedal to work, with this to ride through?

At the overlook behind St Rose Church along the Ohio River. Those are downtown Cincinnati towers peeking over the Mt Adams hill at the left.

About 13 or 14 miles downriver, the Anderson Ferry has been in operation since 1817.

This section of the Ohio has steep hillsides, close to the river. The old Ohio River was dammed by the last glacier, creating a large lake that finally overtopped the hills, and the resulting huge water flow gouged a new channel here, 300 feet deep, and a half mile wide.
