Loving my new bike. It is a Gt GTR4 got it on sale from Nashbar for $425 with free shipping. I did not like the Sora shifting. I actually preferred the downtube shifting on my old bike. I went to ebay and got some Rival levers and apex rdr. Sram for life now, so smooth, crisp and easy. Not to mention how comfortabe the hoods are. Yes, those are aero bars, also from nashbar, the cheap ascent version, much better than I expected. The whole set up is little heavy, but so am I

you really notice that much difference between the Sora and SRAM?

I did not like the shifting on the Sora, namely using your thumb to downshift, making it impossible to reach from the drops. Also, ergonomicly (sp) the sram is more comfortable for me on long rides. The sora functioned ok, I mainly wanted to shift up or down from the drops, and have a wider range of gears, ie long cage apex in the rear

That I understand ... I don't like the downshifting either.

Mr. Sinister posted last week that Shimano is coming out with Sora levers that now have the shifters behind the levers like they should be :D

Yup, and I want them. My old Sora shifters will then go on the old 70's bike I will be building later on this year.

Bah, get SRAM, you'll wonder how you lived without it. One lever to shift, one to brake, and they operate independently, as they should.

Wonder when those will show up on production bikes. Makes Sora equipped beginner bikes more attractive to buy for my daughter.
