I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm not.
I just wish I was above the 400 mile mark right now. I haven't been able to get out half as much as I want, look at all those 8 - 12 mile rides. Those are just a half hour to 45 minute rides.

Squeezed in 66.4 grueling miles Saturday, marking my longest ride yet and putting me up to 168 miles for the month so far. Wow was that ever tough; 50 degrees, 10mph headwind most of the way, rain for the last half, and country roads and trails I was fairly unfamiliar with.

Really didn't feel like riding today, got dressed ready to go and found myself just looking for an excuse to change into my regular clothes and not bother. Then I decided to figure where my wife had gone in the local park using Google Latitude to guess which way she'd be heading. Racked up 25 miles before giving up and calling her, then did a loop I know quite well to get in some more miles and blow off some steam.
Quads fired a brief warning note at me when a light at a crossing turned amber and I gunned it to get through, so I backed off a little bit for the last few miles. As I was gaining on a guy riding with a child I heard the kind of "pssfffsss" sound that's impossible to write down but everybody knows what it means. But the bike kept handling as it should. I stopped anyway figuring that if I had flatted I needed to fix it and if the other guy had flatted he might need some help (he didn't have a saddle bag so may not have had any tools). As it happens he had flatted, but he was on his way to the bike shop (and he had 26" wheels so my 700c tube wouldn't have helped anyway).
Despite a slow start it was a good ride.

Yep, some days the crucial barrier to break is just getting on the bike and turning the pedals the first few times. Once my legs get pumping I usually feel better. I'd chalked up the first 15-20 miles or so without even realising what I was doing, just checking Latitude to see where my wife was, guessing which way she was going and setting off. Then by the time I gave up on that game and called her I'd done a few more miles and was quite happy to take off and do a bunch more.

Only 45 miles so far this month. Planning on commuting a couple more times this week, so that should bring me up to around 90-95.

I've been off the road bike for a long time, with no long rides on it since January and only some short rides. All my long rides have been on my hybrid. And all winter all my riding has been on the flats.
Today is a nice day. I rode 34 miles of rolling hills on the road bike. (Not extreme, over 22 miles 760feet of elevation gain) My legs are actually tired. My speed was crap, which is demoralizing. Only 12.6mph. This is my first long ride with clipless, which worked fine. I did feel like I was sliding forward on my seat though so something may be off.
I think I would have had fun if I hadn't checked my speed.
96.51 for the month
1286.54 for the year

gonna really need to pull out all the stops to get this done for the month, got two 60milers planned in the next two weeks and hopefully use my commutes as recoveries. I'll make up the remaining (should be 30ish) on the last day.
It's gotta be done, otherwise whats the point in setting goals if you aint gonna reach em!!

Just think of how fast you would have been if we didn't have you fix your brakes
Good ride, keep it up. You have a great total for the year going.

Got in a 10.5 mile ride before supper, puts me a little over 100 for the month, and just under 1000 for the year.
