Back on the Bike!

Gina first time back on the bike after a few weeks so we took it easy around Bonelli Park (18 miles). Couple of short loops across the dam, Puddingstone, Fairplex then the horse stables. Then a drop down to the lower parking lot to snoop around. Dark cloudy day off and on with the sunshine. Felt cold at first but not so bad. Looked colder than it was I guess! But any ride without rain is a good ride ha ha! Especially after the crazy weather we had yesterday, rain, wind, and crazy hail!

Yo Spiff 04-14-12 06:26 PM

Bet it felt good! Looks like a nice ride.

TrojanHorse 04-14-12 07:37 PM

Nice! I only rode that loop twice but it really is cool. I'm just not morally stern enough to do laps, I have to get far away from home so that I'm forced to ride all the way back. :D

I went hiking with the kids in Yosemite this week - 6 miles, 2500 ft of climbing (and that was just Tuesday) and my legs are still sore as h**l. I went for a little test ride today just to make sure I could still bike and apparently hiking muscles are different from biking muscles because it was OK.

Back in 98-06 I used to ride it a lot, sometimes twice a week. I like doing a figure 8 while using the big hill as the second loop of the 8. Nice place, lots of water stops in park areas. Back then, there was a lot less traffic too. Before the industrial center near the airport and the housing increase along the fwy. Not to mention the business park across from the park n ride. Was much nicer back then. :D

Try inline skating then ride, your legs will feel it.:D

TrojanHorse 04-14-12 07:50 PM

I can inline skate like a mofo, no worries there, It's walking and hiking that does me in.

Did you, um, look at your segment times by any chance? Sorted by clydes? Hm? :D

Yeah, I'm ahead of you on all of them except the fairplex and stable climbs.:D

TrojanHorse 04-14-12 08:04 PM

I had a mechanical, which cost me on the "whole loop" times. Inexplicably, you outsped me on the down hills but I seem to have equally inexplicably torched you on some climbs, which I never thought would happen.

Dangit, now I have to go back. :D Allez, Allez, Allez!

Excellent vid (as always)! Thanks for sharing with us.
What is the song here?

Man, I can't wait until I get my degree and find a job. California looks like a very cycle friendly state, not to mention the awesome spots to ride.

Oh right - you were with Gina. :roflmao2:

I'm dying here... and jealous... and motivated, all in one tidy little package. ;)

Hey, how come everybody here knows Gina's name and nobody knows yours? Hm.

Everybody knows my name. I hear it all the time in the many videos I've posted over the years. :D

TrojanHorse 04-14-12 09:23 PM

I guess I should pay attention. Ha ha.

Beautiful day for a ride, Beanz. Did the wind kick up down there. Blowing like a banshee up here. I may try to get out tomorrow for the first ride since treatments ended. Here's hoping.

TrojanHorse 04-14-12 10:09 PM

PJ - you haven't been out yet? Congrats on ending treatments and I'd be happy to drag my bike up there and ride with you... Wednesdays only, I can't abide driving up there every day. :D

Thanks. I would enjoy that but on Wednesdays I work until around 6 then I have stuff with the family. Let me get some legs back and by summer I look forward to riding with others from here. Many have been a huge encouragement over the past year, and I look forward to thanking them in person.
