The first mile stone is reached!
After almost 4 months of dieting and ridiculous amounts of cycling I've finally gone from 102-91kg. Going by 5 online body fat calculators I'm at 16-19% body fat which means I only need to get rid of a few more percentage points to get down to 15% (which seems to be a good middle ground at 38 years old).
I can ride 100km with the same perceived effort as that agonizing 10km 4 months ago and I have waaayyyy more energy. Who says you can't turn your body around? Now all I need to do is replace all the muscle that I lost on my upper body and do something about the + sized suit of skin that I seem to be wearing.

That's fantastic. I am not quite there yet but do feel your pain about the skin suit and the upper body muscle loss.
I am seriously considering working two day od strength training into my week for the summer.

Its only skin. Its not heavy and as long as I'm wearing clothes no one see it. I'm working on my abs to see if building up muscle mass there will help, but given the sheer amount of extra I just hope that it will decide to tighten up eventually. Even if its doesn't I can live with being skin suit man who is fit and healthy as compared to fat man with no fitness. The easy bit is my arms. Just free weights and a lot of protein should build some muscle to fill in the skin somewhat.
An interesting side effect is that now when I see people eat I cringe as the sheer amount they are eating. We went to church for my second daughters baptism and they serve a meal afterward. I couldn't credit just how much people pile onto those trays and then complain about gaining weight. I'm going to see if I can't hit 88kg that should get body fat percentage in line and (with luck!) get rid of some of the underlying fat in all this skin and make it a bit less... irritating.
