First ride on a road bike (and I loved every minute of it)

So I made a post on here looking for advice regarding used bikes, and after getting some advice from the trusty folk at this forum, I went and checked a few out,... and I bought one!
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=250432 Well, I love it. It's a 2006 Fuji Cross Comp. There are a few scuffs and dings here and there, but it shifts really well and the ride feels great (well, aside from the fact that I'm going to have to adjust to riding drops). I found that I'm quite comfortable riding on the hoods, and I love the fact that there are brake levers on the upper handle bars near the stem. According to Strava, just from switching from my 32 lbs MTB, I gained over 1mph (I took it for a ride almost identical to one I did yesterday). I found that hills were a little easier, and a hill (that I made into a segment) that I did yesterday in 44 seconds at 10.6mph only took 34 seconds at over 13mph (and I was only at about 50-60% effort today). I'm hooked, and I'm looking forward to putting many thousands of miles on the Fuji! |
Nice job!! You are now officially "hooked" LOL I know the feeling. I love how I feel on my road bike.
|
Yep, you are hooked .... you might as well say good bye to the rest of your hobbies and start planing a bike stable :roflmao2:

That's awesome. So what's your next bike going to be? Oh, sorry. This isn't the 41 (Road Cycling) forum where everything is N+1!
Congrats on the buy. Isn't it amazing how when you love your bike, you want to ride it more? |

Haha. Aye, Joe, it's a great feeling. And I think my next bike will be whatever I can convince my folks to buy me for a graduate present when I get my Master's Degree (Dec. '13) hah. Until then, I'll occupy my time buying gadgets and whatever for the bike (on the docket: bike GPS, saddle bag, some Fredly lights, a bike tool, and some books on bike maintenance).
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...hlight=blinker Based on that, I will probably go with the 2-watt Cygolight Hotshot. Good reviews and BRIGHT! Do you have shorts or bibs? If not, I HIGHLY recommend you add that to your list. |
Another;
He feels the need, The need for speed!! Glad you liked it! |
Glad you like the new ride!

Great looking bike :thumb:
Enjoy the ride :) |
Sweet looking ride! What kind of chain rings are on that thing? The big one looks barely bigger than the small one is why I ask.
