First milestone... Metric Century on my 2012 Trek Earl.
Learned a few things about fuel on this ride... and that I need to have a bit more in me to make it that far... I imploded about mile 48, and we had to stop and eat.
Overall I'm pretty impressed, it was difficult... but I did it.
Cannot wait to get my Felt z85 off of layway... and have gears.

Was it really that hot or was that the temp coming off the asphalt?

Great job! Before you know it, you will be doing 100 milers!
Fuel and hydration is key. Always try to take more food and water then you think you might need OR make sure there are stops along the way if needed. For me, I set an alarm for every 15 minutes and I drink a little and if it is a long or hard ride, I will nibble (key word is nibble) a little at that point too. You are NOT eating or drinking for that moment but for later in the ride. What I mean is if you are not hungry nor thirsty when that alarm goes off, you still need to sip and nibble. If you wait until you are thirsty or running really low on energy, you waited too long.

Nah id say it got to 100*... think its a design flaw in the Garmin temp thingy.

LOL at Garmin data...I have one and at times it has top speed as 100mph.

Nope single speed has a free hub. Fixed gear the pedals turn the entire time the wheels turn...ie you can't stop pedaling if you are moving

Wow, that's awesome! Especially with a single-speed. My BHAG (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal) is a metric century this year in my 20-plus-year-old Gary Fisher Advance that I've had for 3 1/2 weeks. Still have a long way to go, but this is yet another thread that gives me hope. Thanks for sharing, and great work!

Nothing is to audacious. Just have to set out to do it and do it.
Good luck on your goal though, hope to see ya achieve it.Fortunately for me, I'll be going to gears soon... having the 44/16 didn't make my knees happy for that long of a ride... I welcome the switch to a road bike w/ gears in the next two weeks.

I was thinking "Wow" a metric on a SS., then I checked out the elevation on the garmin feed. O.K.
My first metric next September involves 5000 ft of climbing. Would't think of doing it without gears. Was getting a tube at the LBS yesterday, and was checking out a z85. Sweeeeet!
