Sunday Ride and Remembering a Lost Friend

Gina and I did a ride on the usual trail today. But I found out last night that a ride partner lost his life to cancer about a month ago. We rode together for a couple of years , last time being in 09 or 10. We lost another friend and ride buddy about 3 months ago, also to cancer (Boyd). But this guy was much younger, 42. Brain tumor, received treatments figuring he'd be back on the bike someday. We were also friends on facebook so I'd still hear from him even though he couldn't ride.

Sad story, just bought a new car, new condo and was living large, then this!

Doc said no driving or riding till he got better. That was 2 years ago so we thought he'd soon be riding with us again. Didn't happen.

He was a Socal forum member, Robert posted as Mad_One.

Today....I was tired from washing and wasxing our cars yesterday. No mercy, she made me pump the gas too!

Almost done

Cancer sucks ass. Sorry for your loss. Just participated in a cancer benefit ride/fundraiser where we raised almost $4 million for the Roswell Park Institute this past weekend. Hopefully one day cancer will be as rare as polio.

Thanks guys. I just received an update from a family friend. Apparently he was doing well with the brain tumor, somewhat recoverd then found out he had cancer and was receiving chemo treatments.

He was driving home then passed out behind the wheel and hit a tree. Head and chest injuries landed him in the hospital where he passed away 4 hours later. ;(

Brain tumor and chemo, no way to enjoy the final chapter of his life, so sad!

Nice! Not sure if you have ever read my cancer raiser reports. But my entire family is in; ofighting cancer after losing many members. Raise thousands and thousand by way of car wash, breakfasts, rock concerts ( my cousin thinks he's Gene Simmons). Also several Relay for life cancer events over the last 4 years.
