Sruck in the middle

Well finally, after all my procrastinating, i did a group ride today. It was supposed to be a fun ride where the group would ride up to a new highway they are just comp, eting but have not opened to traffic, and ride down and back on that.

They combined a and b into one group then split c into two groups. The c speed seemed to slow for me 12-15 and the a/b said they were going to ride at 18...that seemed to fast. I went with b anyway. I was able to hang ok on the flats but got spit out the back on hills of any length.

I think i hit my max hr so far on a bike trying not to get dropped on the hills.

Wow is all i can say...

Everyone was very nice and the wife and i ended up joining the club.

I figure it has to make me faster, but it sure hurts to get spit out the back so easily lol.

Was kinda fun seeing 22-24 on flats...i had never seen that before...i just dont seem to push that hard solo...i was actually surprised i held on as long as i did.

They dropped me for good on the return..when i crested one hill, they were at the bottom ofmthe other side...by the time i got down, they were out of sight.

I have lots of work to do lol

That right there is a chief benefit of group rides. You will have days where you are the dominant rider though, look forward to it.

I hear you on getting spit out the back on hills though... *sigh* The life of a clyde.

Ill see how further rides go but they told me that c is a max if 15 average. All my rides have been above that for a while now, so dont think that will help me get better.

Not sure why they jump all the way from 15 to 18 but they do.

Just keep riding with the same group. Try to hang on a little longer each time you ride with them.

That's the good thing about group rides, they push you to work harder then you would tend to on your own
