First Bike ride in 25 years...

Hi all,

I completed my first bike ride in 25 years tonight. My girlfriend was with me, it was her first ride in 12 years. We only rode 1.77 miles but, it was a buttkicker. Not sure how fast we were going as we stopped a couple of times to adjust seats. It is something we hope to continue doing and get better at.

I was just thinking about my first ride in 25 years, which was five years ago. I rode two blocks and it felt like 1000 miles. Stick with it.

Congradualtions on "the start"
I still remeber my first ride after 17 years..less tha a mile and I was spent. My cycling and condition improved quickly. Have fun and stick with it. Now I just don't feel right without my morning ride.

Congratulations. You've begun a most excellent journey. My dw and I took up cycling 4+ years ago in our early 60's after not riding since the mid-80's. We now ride 100K and the occasional Century on our tandem. You're never too old, too heavy or too out of shape to take up cycling.

1.77 miles?? Hah hah. What a wimp you are! I made it 1.8 miles on my first ride. Totally smoked you! (said with a humorous grin for those that are humor impaired and ready to flame me ) That was the two summers ago and I did a century last summer and I've dropped 60lb so congratulations and keep it up. Be sure to ride as much as you enjoy and just a bit more to push yourself. If you keep it up regularly and don't over-reward yourself with extra food (my personal issue... ) you'll just keep getting into better and better shape. The process hasn't been fast for me but it's been steady. Best of luck and congrats again for starting the journey.
