If I make it to the top first, I am going to put red polka dots all over my bike...

Well, that was fun! Got a few extra feet of climbing in when I went back to see if PhotoJoe and Beanz were talking squirrels down out of the trees.

Here's a shot of Glendora Ridge Road winding off in the distance towards Mt Baldy (center). We ended up riding that stretch of road but had to turn around before the village - I just ran out of time and had to head home. The weather was gorgeous today - it did get up to about 95 at the end but never felt oppressively hot. The roads were closed to traffic today so we could safely ride 3 or 4 abreast and use the WHOLE road bombing back down the hill.

I made to the Village YAY, sorry TH and the others weren't there for the fun!

I will post some pics on the new thread.

This was fun and you all were great, including that young mountain goat Sebastian!

Where is the new thread?

After making it to the Village, I decided to return via Mount Baldy Road.

Gotta tell you, that is a scary-fast descent. I had to keep hitting the brakes to stay at 40 mph on the way down.

On the ride east, on Base Line road, back to base camp I had a constant headwind. But I was so happy to be going "home" that the headwind did not bother me at all.

I think that I even rode past Monsieur Beanz as he took pictures from his truck. (Was that you Beanz?)

Anyhow, it was a fun ride. A little less heat and a lot more water would have made the ride even more fun.

As I rode towards the Village, with the road closed and no one from the group, I kept thinking, "what if there is a fire and I am here all alone?" I would be toast, literally.

At that point my legs just told my brain to STFU and to just HTFU...and keep going up.

BTW, that was a nasty little headwind on the final descent towards the Village. I had to pedal hard just to keep going down. OUCH!!!

Phew - glad to hear you made it. jsigone was hard on your tail, I thought for sure he'd catch you before the village but it sounds like you missed each other.

Next up - Alpacas.

Did anybody mention the lifts? Did you ride up to the lifts? if not, you'll have to make a return trip some day, but I strongly suggest easier gearing for that one.

I caught him on the next kicker following that decent you saw me on. Quick shade stop while he ate a sandwich then I pushed on solo in my own climbing rhythm. I was at the post office having a clif bar lunch and waving as eja was riding by but I guess he didn't recognize me.

I am already gathering info for the Fall Alpaca Ride. I am not as good at organizing eventas as PhotoJoe is.

Jsigone is an awesome climber. I tried hanging on to his wheel for a while, then he was gone!
