I got in a little over 29 miles this morning, bringing my September total to 302. With rain moving into New England this weekend, I might not get out again this month. I'll try though! Beat my goal of 250. I have 3 job interviews lined up for next week, if I happened to become employed it will put a damper on my riding! I'm so close to being able to retire I can taste it, but I've still got to make some mortgage payments before I can call it a career. I've been out of work for a little over two years, but I spent most of that time attending college.

1- you will not melt if it rains.

2- If you get a job, you can commute to work. Bonus for you for sure.

Chief, I don't mind the rain, I actually worry about the bike . All of the jobs are on the far side for commuting, but I'm sure I could find a place to leave my truck and ride a reasonable distance. I hate to count my chickens and all, but I've already started looking for commuter lots where I could ride in from!

Just clean the bike and it will treat you well. Or get a dedicated commuter bike. But still treat it well!

Beat my goal today! 254.5 miles for the month out of a planned 250!

I was thinking about commuting tomorrow if it's warm enough in the morning, round trip that's another 25 miles, and I was planning to ride at least one day this weekend, want to hit 35 miles in a day, would be my new longest ride ever after doing 30 miles last Saturday. That would put me well within reach of even hitting 300 miles for the month.

do that commuting...Warm enough? It's always warm enough in CA ! I had light rain then snow then hail on a ride last week while I was pushing into 35mph winds at times doing 32 miles with 3000 feet of climbing. Childs play for some but I'm a 60yr old clyde and it was a fun challenge. Snow is predicted locally, tomorrow so my road bike riding days are about to be shut down for winter. Grab that 35 miles and smile.

I wouldn't even drive if it snowed!! That's a surefire way to get your nice sports car wrecked in Silicon Valley. And OMG imagine the disaster of cars sliding around you while you're on a bike? Oh heck no! And considering the oily disaster that the roads are after 8 months without rain I might stay home and telecommute on the first rainy day of the season.

With an Allez and no racks, carrying a whole host of clothes to and from work is not fun. In fact when I drove in yesterday I dropped off all my clothes and left them in a drawer so I didn't need to carry them with me. All I had on the ride was my laptop and my sunglasses for the ride home. Reported 56 degrees outside when I started, so just me, the laptop sleeve with strap, and the bike, no jacket even. Maybe if I don't get a nice biking jacket for Christmas I'll get it for myself. But that almost makes me want to just alternate days, commute Tuesday/Thursday and carry jacket home on non-commute days. Where I still ride in the evenings, just instead of 25 miles round trip, I do about 10 miles.

9/29 32.6 with 1,449 feet of climbing.

Perfect blue bird day with little wind, clear as a bell, and in the 60's! I feel like a slacker because I've been off the bike for the past 4 days, but I felt strong today. I PR'd all the climbs on my ride today! Another 33 miles planned for tomorrow, so the goal of 500 this month is within reach.

https://app.strava.com/rides/23477973

MTD 482.3 miles with 14,093 feet of climbing.
