The GMR "Village Ride" - TAKE 2 - October 14th

OK, LET'S DO THIS! I WANT TO MAKE THE VILLAGE!!!!!

Date: Sunday, October 14, 2012
Time: Roll at 8am
Location: https://goo.gl/maps/6G2r

Currently in:

1) PhotoJoe (R)
2) TrojanHorse
3) Beachgrad05 (R)
4) psalm
5) Gina
6) Beanz
7) ahultin (R)
8) ahultin Jr. (R)
9) Nusince (R)
10) jeepseahawk (R)
11) jsigone
12) vntgdrms
13) mkadam68
14) Firefly

I suggest the same ride structure as the September ride. We ride our own ride, regroup at the shack, then ride our own ride to the village. I'm actually kicking around the idea of taking off 15 minutes or so before the faster riders so we get to the village at more similar times. We'll see what happens. Thinking out loud on that one.

Who's in?

Holy cow. I just posted and we already have 9 riders! GREAT!!!!

OK, so I may have taken a "few" liberties in adding people to the list (8 to be exact!), but I'll bet I was right on each one! Anyone from the first two rides that I didn't automatically put on the list, it's only because I either didn't get to know you on the ride and didn't know if I could take the liberty or not or I'm not sure if you'll be ready to ride after your shingles! Hope so. All are welcome...the more the merrier.

BTW, we can thank ahultin for instigating this ride!

We've talked about future rides, but some of us need to build up mileage. My suggestion would be:

eja's Alpaca Tour (or as TH calls it the Tour de Egypt) Feb?
TrojanHorse's ClydeTrak: March?
Night GMR ride: **********? Early summer so it gets dark slower? ????
Beanz Tour de Sart - Whenever!

Hmmm... maybe. Have to see what my schedule holds as we get closer. I'll post here, regardless, just to get reminders.

This is awesome... I don't even have to fill out an entry card!

Oh and just in case anyone wants information on gmr road closures (or any closures on la county public works controlled roads) it can be found here:

Well, that's an interesting idea - maybe we say "meet at the shack at 9" and start whenever you think you need to - the ride to the village is group friendly until we get to the base of the nasty last climb, but that's not overly long.

Regardless, i'm all over it.

and then we all follow Joe up to the lifts.

I found out after I got home that your Seven was talking smack to my Lynskey. If you can keep it in line this time......

Glad you're on board!

I will keep her tame this time around, if she doesn't I will trade her in for a Lynskey Cooper. I told Seven to make sure they sent a male, damn them!

Dude...your noisy bike flew past me on the last 3.5 mile climb.

The noise was the only way I could tell where you were.

TH the Venge is a sweet bike. BTW alpacas are from the Andes, so we should call it The Tour of the Andes (w/o all the nasty climbing).

I am a tentative yes for the Second Assault on the Village. There is something addictive about that freaking climb. I just have to make sure that I have not trials or preliminary hearings at around that time.

On a Sunday? Bah. I won't have any restrictions that day, so it's village or bust and frankly, i'll probably have a go at those infernal lifts as well although I expect to fail.
