Happily, I was able to ride that section last year before I left for Florida. It's a really nice addition to the trail, especially the section pictured there where it brings you near civilization for a little bit. After all, Burger King may not be gourmet, but when you're riding the entire distance between Reading and Philly, it's nice to have a place mid-way between where you can strap on a feedbag.

I can relate. I'm about 6'2" - 6'3", and my inseam is only 30 inches. All my height is in my torso apparently. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Honestly, I have never been to the High Line BUT I am can definitely plan something if you want...I keep telling myself I need to make a trip into NYC, now I have an excuse to actually do it.

Then you want to cross the river and ride partway up the hill to Annamarie's. The servings are enormous and the menu items include light fare like stuffed French toast.

In my experience, ICE trikes are very, VERY nice. The only issue I have with them is that they are very pricey, mostly due to have more bells and whistles than the average triker needs. Now if you plan on touring cross country on a trike, then there is probably no better machine for it. That said, you can certainly find a good trike with a more reasonable price tag.

Also, my RANS crank-forward is my favorite bike. Since I can't afford to replace it, I really hope I can fix it. Now they're not for everybody, but I really think you'll like them. They are very comfortable.

If you lived an apartment, would you still buy a trike? I thought about getting one at some point in my life but unless I move into a house, have a garage or my wife and I split, its a tough call.

You seemed to have little trouble with my LHT when you rode it, however.

I am looking at folders like the ICE because of travel and space concerns. But, Sayre is right, it is a pricey trike. The Catrike Pocket would be a perfect fit for me but no fold is a deal breaker, no way that I can figure how to transport on the motorhome. Already a heavy duty rack system holds two bikes and a motorscooter.

Absolutely would. There are ways to find space.

I didn't ride it very long, though. More than 5 feet, but still. A little discomfort was okay for a few miles.

What about a hanger for the trike?

I know almost nothing about the Trident Spike (I've heard a few positive comments), except that it folds and is (for a trike) cheap:

Interesting! I can even get it from them with 152 cranks and a cut down boom. I'll have to read up on it.

From everybody I've talked to, Trident trikes are relatively low end. I've never tried the Spike folder, but I can't imagine it is much better than the rest of their lineup. I'm not trying to dump on them or suggest that they wouldn't suit your needs, but I'd probably destroy one. Of course, your mileage may vary.

For experiences about trikes or recumbents in general, I highly recommend asking at 'Bent Riders Online. (Much higher traffic than the 'bent forum here - has trike forum).

Photos from Red Glare, the rocketry event three weeks ago. Chris invited me because he wanted me to share his hobby for a couple of days.

Chris is easy to spot in the photos.....

Giving an impromptu photography lesson. Chris comes across as difficult here on Bike Forums, and while in person he's eccentric and dressed like a book of paint samples on meth, he's extremely personable and eager to help others.

Waiting for the all clear, which Chris in the background. Nerys spent easily six hours standing in place Saturday, without food or drink, taking photos. Sunday it was seven hours. I can't imagine myself doing it - even when I was a tournament director in chess events I could sit down, and there were breaks between rounds.

I don't know how Chris recorded the "exercise" from his work at Red Glare. While walking IS exercise, I'm not sure what I'd classify this as.

Hey Neil where was the rocket event? I would have loved to see that! Lemme know when there is another and where. I might just have to check it out!

Price, Maryland, on the eastern shore. Red Glare is held twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. The Maryland and Delaware Rocketry Association sponsors the event. I was surprised at the turnout - it was a crowded field, and the plates on the cars showed some folks traveled very far for the launches.

Chris complained about a sore neck and back each night. I can't imagine why.....

Rocket, or indeed action photography, isn't my strong suit, but I got a few good shots in.

I prefer to photograph nature, landscapes, and people, so I turned my eye and my now out of date equipment to the human element. For instance, this shot. The Clydesdale rocketeer with his shirt riding up was watching his Level 2 certification flight. A few moments after I took the photo the PA system announced that the observers had determined the launch met the certification requirements, and he and his buddies broke into high fives all around.

Not all the launches were successful, however. This fellow was trying to salvage parts from his crashed rocket.

It was an interesting weekend for me. I spent some time with the rocketry people, and some time riding. I need to get Chris to the Eastern Shore - the riding is amazing.

Speaking of riding, we passed a group of cyclists south of Middletown on Saturday morning. I believe they were the group of Delaware riders Bike Forums posters have often read about.

You two need some water bottles for those cages!

And I think it is time to send nerys to Love2Pedal, they have plenty of bright colors for him.

Congrats on the weight loss so far.

I skipped bringing water bottles since I read on Bike Forums that I don't ride a bike anymore. After all, the rumor wagon is always right, isn't it? :-)

I can't see Nerys spending the money for stuff at Love2Pedal. Anyway he has that jersey you were kind enough to send him and he's not worn it yet.

No, that IS cheap for a trike. Cattrikes are 2k easily and don't even consider a Greenspeed.

You are assuming a specialty vehicle is going to sell for the same price as a mass-produced item. In 2008 I paid five dollars for a bike. I sold it for a little more because it was too big a frame size for me. Pity is that it would probably fit me now.....
