Three thousand and six, that's what my odometer read when I pulled my bike into the garage this afternoon. I set that odometer to zero on January 1 after riding approximately one thousand miles in 2011. My goal at the time was to ride 1,500 miles this year.

Just wanted to celebrate with some of the people who have been so encouraging. It's hard to believe that just 18 months ago I was laying on the couch in agony after a 5-mile ride (my first in 20+ years) through residential streets.

Thanks everyone for your support, advice, and encouragement.

Fabulous....and you've still got almost 3 months to ride this year. Can't wait to hear your final total.

Nice! I'm nearly at 2,000 after less than 250 in 2011 (from July to end of year)

Thanks everyone and nice going Beachgrad05.

My new goal is 3,500 by December 31 and I'm praying for good weather.

I'm not sure for next year. I'm thinking that instead of increasing total mileage I set some other goals like doing a double-century, a multi-day tour, or trying for an under 6 hour century (current best is 6:34:30 actual rolling time). I also want to do more charity rides. I did the Tour de Cure this summer but there are so many others in the area. I'd also like to try some off-road or unpaved trail cycling.

That is awesome Myosmith--especially considering you are living in NW Minnesota. This is not exactly the Banana Belt.

3000 in Minnesota is like 6000 here in California, great job. My goal is 3500 as well but a little behind.

I have to admit, that freakishly warm and dry winter we had helped a lot. I had almost 1,000 miles on by the end of April when normally I'd have only had a couple of weeks of riding by then.

This winter and spring were unusually warm but that's still a lot of early miles. I only started biking in August so I'm hoping the snow holds off for a couple of months.

If you haven't already, check out the Winter Cycling forum. Lots of good info for when the weather does start to turn on us.

Thanks Myo--I have been so locked in to the C/A group that I had not noticed the Winter Cycling forum.

We had a few inches up by Hibbing but it melted.

Congratulations on the milestone Myo.
