Meh! The closer the ride gets the more I lose interest in hitting the road at 4am to make the ride. I think I'll have just as much riding sleeping and doing our usual ride with Gina. I'll lose the $60 entry fee I paid but oh well, part of life.

Have fun out there!

tunavic got the "bright sunny" part right, but there was a pretty good wind. The Century riders looks like had to head right into it. Us 55 mile wimps had a long stretch of quartering headwind. When your riding a tandem the only acceptable headwind is dead on. All others s*(k. We showed our stuff on the downhills, but it doesn't balance out. The downhill goes by in a blink, while the uphill, ableit small hill, grind seems to take forever. Still, not a bad day. Can't prove that I saw any denizens of this forum. Heading home tomorrow am with a promise of better weather than we experienced on the way down.

Ride was epic. Right shifter broke 5 miles into the ride. Rode 99 miles with two gears. ...pics to follow later

Jsigone is a god among men. Total props to him. He kicked my ass with 3 gears. He is good to draft behind however. Seriously that is one fit man.

god my legs hurt!

Well, I for one had a GREAT time today. Mrs vest is a sneaky strong rider. jsigone is not sneaky strong, it's more of a SMACK in your face strong. Yeah, he broke his shifter but it wasn't at 5 miles like he claimed, it was about 10 miles in, so that's total sandbagging. So he's living up to his total jsandbag name. But seriously, he rode a century with 2 gears, how insane is that? Yeah. Insane. and he STILL kicked our butts. Really. One gear and he totally dropped us on a flat windy section. Totally lost him.... but a great guy to ride with when he's actuall there.

I'll let BG and ahultin chime in on their own achievements but claps all around.

Sorry I missed you guys. Some dufas set the alarm on his phone but forgot to turn it on. We were sleeping like babies in our nice warm beds while you guys were rolling out. We didn't leave until 10:00am and finished up a little before 4:00. I doubt we caught any of you. It was a pretty nice day though and we got to say hi to a lot of people and I think I saw 68degrees at one point. Lots of good rollers but I still didn't notice any "hills." I don't know what these "hills" are you guys keep talking about.

I didn't have a confuser on my bike. I just use the one between my ears. It tells me there were no hills and never went slower than 20mph all day (my confuser never lies).

A block up from the regestration tent? I remember a KHS tent on the right...they had a pretty big presence there. Did any of you stop there? Was Mike or Craig there? Dang, I'm bummed I missed them.

The peanut m&m's were a nice touch. The food was kind of marginal though.

Julie is the one kissing vesteroid (he's in the cyde jersey), I'm the one wearing the cool breeze jersey, jsigone is the one doing all the self photos, including the one of the SRAM 'no tap' shift system. ahultin is on the tandem with his daughter behind and I didn't see Sebastian or beachgrad in any of the pictures?

We kind of split into two groups - jsig, me, vest & mrs vest (who is a very strong rider!) and the ahultin clan with Beachgrad.

Those M+Ms had magic restorative powers... I didn't realize it but we stayed at rest stop #4 for almost 30 min. That gave jsigone time to catch us on his two speed bike (he stayed behind at lunch to see if a mechanic would be able to fiddle his rear der. into a better gear)... My shoulders were killing me, my left foot was killing me, my legs had twinges of pre-cramping going on. The M+Ms fixed all that and then some.
