Milestone (sorta bike related)

I just got back from the gym and am feeling pretty good. I ran 2.5 miles on the indoor track which is a new record for me. I know that 2.5 miles isn't much for a runner but one of the reasons I got into cycling is a history of weight exacerbated knee injuries that made any running or even walking significant distances quite painful. This is cycling related for two reasons: One is that it is part of my winter cross-training but more importantly, I credit my riding with strengthening my knees and helping to reduce my weight to make this possible. Just a few years ago even walking up the stairs was painful and left me winded.

Congrats! I have issues that limit my ability to walk for distances or for long amounts of time so I am able to relate somewhat. I took up cycling in part for similar reasons in summer 2011 when I found myself unable to walk in the park near my house on the 1 mile fitness path.

2.5 is plenty. Running is hard stuff.:D

Nice work :thumb:

I also had trouble running but cycling spurred weight loss which gave the bump needed to start jogging. Now it's an important part of my exercise routine :)
