Finally, goodbye to the Uber
For those who haven't followed much, in 2005 I was around 572 pounds. Got down in the 350's in 2009, ballooned back up to 471 in Feb of 2012. During all of those times it seemed like being back in the 300's was a pipe dream. Something that could never seem to happen. I had not been in the 200's since high school when I was playing football and wrestling, a 249 pound brick monster. Even when I was riding several hundred miles a week and basically showing everyone I was a monster I couldn't get below 350.
By the second week of December I was down to 306 and it seemed like the curse was about to be broke. I took several weeks off work over Christmas, during which I didn't ride, and within two days of not riding I'd immediately "gained" 10 pounds. Sure enough I was back at work by January 7th and the day after had dropped 5 of the 10 pounds I gained. Then I just hung there. Last weekend I was at 306, then Monday morning (after not riding Sunday) I jumped to 311. I was in a panic.
This week I was determined to be out of the 300's, forever. All week I've been riding and eating absolutely consistently and losing about 2 pounds a day. 20-27 miles a day, 1600-1800 calories. Nothing special. Last night I was at 302.5 and knew it was possible, but I wasn't going to do something nuts to get there. I told myself I'd drink my normal amount of water and coffee, eat my normal breakfast, then ride my normal commute - albeit in full in one shot. Rode it literally exactly, a 27 mile ride. Got on the scale
Goodbye 300's, forever.
On the left was November 2011, so probably 20-30 pounds short of my highest. Right is June, around 350.
Finally, this Thursday:
People say they don't recognize me anymore. Finally, I believe them. Next stop: 249

Absolutely AMAZING! That is exactly what hard work, proper diet, exercise, and... most of all - CONSISTENCY result in. You're an inspiration for us that are looking forward to leaving this extra weight behind us. Keep at it... this was a huge milestone, but you're not done yet, right?
