Passing of a Clyde success story

My hero, Bill Cotton of Bicycle Club of Philadelphia, died last month.

In middle age, Bill took up riding, lost 34 pounds, and kept in great shape for years. He celebrated his 69th birthday by riding from Philadelphia to Cape May and back in a single ride - 22 hours for 227 miles. He also wrote extensively about his rides at his website, which is now offline. In 2011 he was hit by a truck while riding, but he was OK. Cancer is another matter. BCP had a "Bill Cotton Celebration Ride" in May 2012. Photos are here:

I never met Bill. Our contact was restricted to a couple exchanges on the BCP email list. I was in awe of his accomplishments, and I regret that I never met him.

Perhaps Indyfabz, a long time BCP member, can contribute some additional material to this thread.
