GMR, SART and SGRT fans...

Get out of your comfort zone, get in your cars and head West to lovely Ventura County to ride Cruisin' the Conejo - 2013. The ride, organized by the Conejo Valley cyclists is now in its 28th year.

There are four routes, from an easy 35 miles scenic route to a very challenging century. The century ride offers tough climbs, including the famed Rock Store climb featured in the Tour de California, a long segment on beautiful PCH and rolling hills along Ventura County's strawberry fields, avocado and orange groves and alpaca ranches.

Sag support is fantastic and there is an end of ride BBQ that, alone, is well worth the price of admission.

The ride is on Saturday, May 11...so you will all have plenty of time to get ready for it.

Hope to see you there, especially my GMR "mates." :)

Ah, that's hard on the heels of the tour de cure, which means we should all be in good shape for cruisin'.

I'll calender it up but I have to check with the Central Planning Authority to see what my kids are up to. I have a limited pool of "I'll be gone all day goofing off on my bike" availability. :)

I'm not able to commit at this time. Training for La Bella Preme (6/1) and doing tour de cure in April. Plus currently unemployed and don't know what my availability for events will be like. I will keep this in mind tho.

I may just do this one, thinking metric so I can spend time sightseeing. Maybe we can get a convoy going that way, team C/A. I would do any of the routes if we go as a group.

I think you might be on to something there jeep...

The top "loop" of the century - is that interesting or is that just additional mileage?

The 67 mile metric looks like it's mostly the top loop of the century and the 62 mile challenging century looks like it's the interesting part of the century with an extra trip back over the mountains. I could definitely be talked into that one.

Jeep and TH, the two "metric" rides offer challenges of their own. I am partial to the 67 mile ride because it goes past the Sherwood Country Club. The road there is used in many TV commercials, you would all recognize it. The last third of the ride has some climbing, not real hard, but challenging enough. As a plus, you get to ride through some beautiful farmland...including the famed alpaca ranches. I hope you two can make it...as well as the other C&A riders. I want you all to see, and enjoy, what my home county has to offer to bike riders.

Well, you didn't SAY alpacas in your OP!

Wife just said maybe on this one. We don't have one booked for may. These sc drives are pretty brutal for us however, but do like meeting new folks. Ej, you going to let me drool over the c59.

I will give it a nice coat of wax and then you can drool to your heart's content. I know the drive will be tough for many of you. The good thing about this ride is that unlike the tour de Cure, there are specific starting times. We can agree upon a starting time, say 8:00 or even as late as 8:30 and then all start together. I would recommend the 67 miles ride. It is challenging enough to be a good work out and scenic enough to be fun. Some of my ride mate will also be riding, it would be nice to have you meet them. The 67 mile ride does not go on PCH, which for some is a plus (PCH can be scary at times). But the ride through Westlake Village - Hidden Valley - Sherwood Country Club area is very scenic. I hope you can all make it.
