The Whole Mental Aspect + Riding, sitting.... riding again

I've had a small back issue I've been dealing with so other than the rehab exercises I have not done much in the calorie burning area. It has been several weeks actually and I could feel it weighing on me mentally. I think exercise obviously does brighten the mood but also the feeling of "not progressing" and "losing momentum" was there. Last Sat. I went on a 20 mile night ride with a friend which I was hoping would be the start of getting back on the back and when we finished I felt great.

Tonight I took advantage of an early day at work and rode my bike one town over to my daughters ballgame. Then after it was over I rode back. Almost 24 miles. I can tell already that tomorrow is going to be a great day. If for nothing else than because my mental outlook is way up. WAY WAY up.

When I rode there I kept score so I was sitting and standing for several hours. Then I got back on the bike. It was rough to get warmed up again.

Here is my recent ride if you care to read about it.

Looks like a good ride. I understand what you mean about time off the bike. I experienced some hamstring tightness last fall and took some time off the bike. It was driving me crazy after a week or so. I eased my way back into it and am now as strong as ever, just stretching more before and after. Perhaps stretching more might be of use for you?

Riding for a purpose, like the game for you, or commuting to work for me, is a strong motivator for me too. Good luck and good health to you....

Thanks! I will be commuting as well as soon as my Burley Travoy gets here. Should be tomorrow. Of course I can only commute on days that we don't have a game or practice is later, etc.
