SPD cleat positioning on new shoes
For those of you just tuning in.
Now there's the small matter of installing the cleats. They're SPDs, so they have a generous amount of float, which gives a lot of margin for error. And I have a pretty good idea of where my fitter set the cleats up on my old shoes. Trouble is, I'm sort of on my own now that I have to put the cleats on my new shoes. Short of going back to my fitter ($), anyone have any suggestions on how to get the cleat position right on my new shoes?

Am new to cleats/shoes, picked up a pair yesterday and have only been on one ride so far, but I positioned my cleats near the middle of the ball of the foot.
Found this link, hopefully might help?

Find on your shoe where the inner most bony part of your foot is, around the ball of your foot, but on the inside. Mark your shoe with something that will come off. Set your cleats so that the pedal spindle is about 10-12mm back from that mark. From there, I just adjust the cleats so that the movement in the cleat does not allow me to contact the chainstays.
Hope that helps.
