Busted by the god of thunder
It rained most of the day today, but I got a break in the late afternoon with partly sunny sky and moderate wind. Headed out for a quick 20 miles. At about the 10 mile mark the wind picked up and the clouds started to climb and darken so I headed for home. It still didn't look too bad and at about 15 miles light rain began to fall and I turned directly into the wind for the home stretch. Then there was a crack of thunder and the sky opened up. By the time I hit the city limits the rain was coming down in sheets of big, ice cold drops driven by wind that was taking leaves and twigs off of trees and the flags stood straight out. I only rode a couple of miles in that deluge but by the time I pulled into the garage, I was soaked through and the gutter on the street in front of my house was overflowing.
Goes to show that you can't always see bad weather approaching, it can develop right over the top of you.
