I've joined the club

with trojanhorse....gimped left ankle and can't ride my bike

Went trail running at lunch yesterday at the lake, rolled my ankle on a rock I didn't see. And it took me out. Class 2 sprain w/ possible chance of small pc of bone broke away when the ligament ripped. 1-2 on cruches and 2-3 weeks off the bike. Sheesh and I just started riding a ton again too. Did a century last saturday too...

My bruised/swollen ankle are too graphic to post nor do I want to see it either

Just proof I don't need a bike to hurt myself

Sissy!

Check out my avatar, I've been upgraded from a cast to a boot, with a soft cast underneath... I'm officially on "light weight bearing" status, although I walk around the house anyway. Hopefully tomorrow I'll go to "full weight bearing" with no stinking soft cast so I can wash my nasty foot.

I wish they gave me a padded boot like that. The splint they gave, will make me add my oakley flip flops into my wardrobe for the next 2 weeks.

FF + running shoes or FF + hiking boots for the new fashion statement Or even better with my FFs and Giro MTB shoes If I have to dab my foot its gonna HURT

Dude, I have three (3) knee high boots. This one I have now is calf high. you're welcome to borrow / have any of the knee high ones. Those air splints can sort of dig into your legs. I bought one when I mangled my ankle in March, and that thing bruised me up good.

We'll see if I can survive the weekend with the one they gave me. If not I'll give you a call about shipping me of those super braces.

swelling is down, still a bit left but I think the bruise will hang around for a while. No more stupid crutches...those things are awful. I'm hoping to get back on the bike for a Thursday ride to test it out (minimal amount of stop lights). I think the only problem will be clipping in so I'll have to loosen the pedal some. I don't think I'll be able to ride the MTB for another month or so til the ligaments are strong enough to deal with bumps and decending single tracks. I'm gonna miss the last two wedn nite races and hopefully not too much into the Big Bear race series starting next month.

I've accelerated my ride plan from thursday to today. Just went out for a hour (17miles) and take the least amount of stop lights type route. Overall I felt pretty good on the bike, was able to ride off the saddle on the hills. I still wore the ankle brace for more support and fit decent in my roadie shoe. I just can't rock the bike the same motion as I'm used to.

But hey I'm glad I'm out there oppose to having to keep my foot elevated all day, which I'm still doing to help w/ the swelling.
