So, after getting off to a bad start this month, I went out for a nice long ride today. Found this county/state funded bike trail. There are 2 connected together, the first is 11 miles, the second is about 6 or so. They're called the Legacy Trail and Ventian Waterway trail's. Landscape is beautiful, trail on Legacy is smooth (was built in 2011), and the weather started out nice. In the last hour of riding, the weather went from beautiful to traditional Florida rain. Tropical storm strength, too. So, got my first ride out in the rain, and my first fall. Total distance: 33 miles!

MTD total: 49 miles! Sadly, 1 of 4 weeks in, and less than 25% to my goal.

50 milers with Gina and Aimee. Gina not feeling well barfed at mile 20 but still managed to whip out 51 miles. A bee landed in my ear and gave me a little spicy treat, ouch!

Last month I only rode 751 miles out of 1000, so I'll try for 1000 miles again. Hopefully, no wildfires and/or smoke this month. Stava's PowerBar Take on the Tour challenge will give me an extra incentive to go the distance. It's 1680 kilometers between 6/29 and 7/31.

7/1 - 15.9 miles
7/2 - 48.4 miles
7/3 - 58.9 miles
7/4 - 23.8 miles
7/5 - 89.3 miles
7/6 - 11.1 miles

MTD: 247.3 miles
YTD: 4059.7 miles, 21.71 miles/day

PowerBar Take on the Tour: 511km/1680, 30%

Well today was dedicated to testing the Specialized Milano seat I got yesterday. The first five minutes or so my sit bones were screaming at me that I'd made a huge mistake, but as the ride went on the saddle actually became really comfortable. Overall I was really impressed, though the seat angle needed to be adjusted down slightly, it was otherwise excellent.

I went with my girlfriend along the same route as yesterday, and today my legs felt the extra distance a little bit. I guess that's to be expected when you first start doing a longer distance daily!

July 7 - 8.2km / 20.9 km/h moving average
MTD - 36.7 km / 160 km
TTD - 59.7 km

As a side note, I'm really loving this thread. Reading about all the rides everyone is going on is both fun and motivating

We attempted Palomar Mt, but was at half a bottle by the time we go to the fork. Thunder clouds off in the distance, the humidity and heat did it's thing against me today. Doesn't help w/ the UFC beer party last night Played it safe and went back to the Taco shop/Market at the base for fluids and nice cold Mexican Coke before tackling Cole Grade in the heat.

Took the new Hope Vision One light out for a spin, which had the added advantage of riding when it wasn't uncomfortably hot. Still worked up a bit of a sweat, got to lay down a bit of power and enjoy some speed. Got to about 26mph on the flats without much effort, then realised I had a tailwind. Oh well...

I am in on this one, my goal for July is 250 miles this beats my paltry 36 miles for June as this is when I got my new bike and my father having a heart attack and surgery which kept me out of town checking on him plus taking my family on vacation and being made to leave my bike at home. Not sure how long my big ride will be this month but I m hoping for 50 miler

Went out this morning for a "recovery ride" (i.e. my quads still hurt from yesterday, maybe I should take it a bit easier today... ) but tacked on a tiny bit of distance, mainly because for very little elevation gain I gain more downhill in the last third of the route, and downhill is a clyde's best friend

My milano saddle felt better than yesterday at the slightly more nose down angle, but with my bars now dropped an additional spacer I realized I should have re adjusted the angle on my grips and bar ends. Plus as I rode I noticed my saddle could stand to come a touch more forward (this is especially interesting to me compared to the more "comfort" oriented saddles I had tried. It feels like the narrower profile of the Milano really changes where it feels "right" compared to the other saddles I'd tried).

So, once I got back from my ride I moved the saddle a bit forwards and fiddled around with the grip and bar end angles for a bit till I found what feels right (we'll see how that holds up on tomorrows ride) and put on a bit more distance while messing about with my grips.

July 8, 2013 - 8.69 km ride + 2.4 km testing = 11.09 km
MTD - 47.79 km / 160 km
TTD - 70.79 km

The 70s Windsor needs new cotters, and it will be a week before they arrive. I’m pulling my goal down to 100 miles. Maybe its time to rebuild the old Fuji or get anew bike, oh bother.

As of today I have 120 miles for the month, 1538 miles for the year. Heat and humidity taking it's toll. Riding half my daily ride in morning, shower off the humidity. Do second half after 7:30 in evening. Actually tonight was the first decent ride this month. Not so confident I'll get 500 miles in this month. Must plan some longer rides on shade covered trails.

Well today was certainly interesting! I headed out around noon once it had finally stopped raining long enough for a ride. Got 4.61 km out when I heard hissing from my front tire. Uh oh. I had a patch kit but made a silly mistake that meant I couldn't inflate the tire sufficiently to ride it home. That meant a 3.2km walk back to my house, followed by loading the bike up and taking it to the shop for a new tire, new spare tube, and new cartridges for my CO2 pump.

Once that was all taken care of and I got back home, I decided that by god I was going to get in the rest of my ride so I went out there and did another 4.39 km at higher intensity.

July 9, 2013 - 4.61 km @ 18.7 km/h moving average + 4.39 km @ 20 km/h moving average
MTD - 56.79 km / 160 km

112 MTD but I've ran into a fit issue on my bike. Knee pain was managable up until a few days ago but now I'm starting to feel some real deep pain after 8 mile rides. Going to be hard to make 300mi unless I see a fitter soon.
