7/30 - 50.3 miles

I reached my goal with a day to spare. My first time to cycle 1000 miles in a month. Even sweeter considering my wife and I took off for a 4-day weekend in Steamboat Springs and Grand Lake to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I did get to ride Saturday morning in Steamboat, though.

MTD: 1003.7 miles / 1000
YTD: 4816.1 miles, 22.83 miles/day

PowerBar Take on the Tour: 1728 km, 102%, completed.

One way commute home today adds another 45 miles to this months mileage.

Some excitement on the way home. I'm standing at a red light at a four way intersection waiting for the signal and a little car and a pickup on the cross street tried to occupy the same spot and got tangled up right in front of me in the intersection. I checked for injuries, there were none, and then continued on my way. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera rolling.

Today I achieved a whole bunch of personal bests. My first 25 km ride, my first ride with a 21.7 km/h moving average, my first ride with a 22.6 km/h (14 mph) moving average for the last 20 km, my first ride where I was in the big (50t) chainring on all flats and downhill sections for the last 20 km, my first ride where I did a whole lap of my neighborhood in the 50t chainring including the inclines. It felt amazing! I'm really happy with what I accomplished today, especially considering I started on June 25...

I made another little modification to my bike today as well, cut another 3/4" off the inside of both my grips so I could move my inboard bar ends out further, they are now 17.5" apart and feel much better this way.

July 30 - 25.4 km
MTD - 351.3 km / 160 km
TTD - 374.3 km

Didn't quite make the target, I had planned a slightly longer loop on the ride before meeting my wife but stopped to help someone with a wonky back wheel and lost enough time I decided to lose the extra loop. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get his bike back into service. Did consider going round the block a couple of times but decided I'd rather ride because I enjoy riding than ride for the sake of chalking up a couple of miles for the sake of it.

I'll carry the two mile shortfall forward to August. 1007 miles to go to hit the year's target, hopefully I'll do enough damage to that figure during August that my break won't stop me hitting the year's target.

Jul 02 - 82 miles
Jul 03 - 5 miles
Jul 07 - 21 miles
Jul 09 - 15 miles
Jul 10 - 22 miles
Jul 12 - 23 miles
Jul 13 - 26 miles
Jul 19 - 10 miles
Jul 23 - 18 miles
Jul 24 - 75 miles
Jul 29 - 22 miles
Jul 31 - 29 miles

MTD - 348 miles / 350
YTD - 2100 / 3107

Congrats!

Congrats to Tandem427 as well, 1000+ miles wow!!!!

Monthly mileage goals are such a personal thing. Kudos to all that have reached or nearly reached your goals this month. I'm sure for many 100 miles is as hard or harder for them than 700 was for me.

Still 157, meeting goal, could have done better, but I had to replace my phone, so I spent the morning gathering metal and taking it to the recycler,as we call the scrap yard now that it is all cleaned up and computerized and depersonalized, and the afternoon spending my gains on a phone.

Well I didn't quite make it to my monthly goal for July, but I came really close and plan on EXCEEDING it for the month of August! Good news, I only need 300 miles to surpass my goal for the year, and with 3 fair weather months left of 2013 I shouldn't have any problem reaching that goal.

(7/28 was a recovery/rest day & 7/29 was a lazy day)
7/30 - 19.4 miles
7/31 - 30.7 miles - I felt great at the end of this ride, and was considering going for an additional 5-10 mile ride to meet my goal for July but I decided I'd rather ride for the enjoyment not just to add up miles.

MTD: 288.2 miles (Goal: 300; Aw, only 11.8miles away from reaching this. I'm kicking myself for not getting out for a ride on Monday. Oh well, there's always August...)
YTD: 709.6 miles (Goal: 1,000 miles; Right on track, in fact I could complete both goals by riding my monthly goal in August!)

I didn't post a goal at the start of the month, because it was my first month on a bike and I wasn't sure what I could do. After the first week of 16 miles total I kind of figured a few things out and set a goal of 100 miles for the month. I ended up with 147 total for the month and my last ride of the month was 24 miles which was as many miles as I did for my entire second week. Hope to get to 250 miles this month.

Well I just got back from a vacation in Williamsburg, VA. I took my bike to get those final miles in to reach my 500 mile goal. Unfortunately I didn't count on getting a summer cold shortly after check in at the resort. Took me 4 days of short rides around the resort and a neighboring community to get 23.4 miles in. So finished the month at 501 1/2 miles.
