BREAKING NEWS - Soda is bad for you.

“We’re finding some research that seems to indicate that calories from sugar are more easily turned into fat in your body than calories from fat in food are turned into fat in your body,” Ochner said. Translation: Eating and drinking sugar makes you gain more weight than eating fat.

The benefits of fruit are such that one should not eliminate them but like everything, use moderation.

Sodas of both the sweetened and zero calorie varieties have been linked to weight gain.

The soda problem comes with lack of moderation, and they have yet to prove any causation with diet sodas, there just appears to be a link at this point.

Poison is in the dose.

my personal belief: stay away from all soda, regular and diet (seltzer excluded). drinking soda, even diet soda because it's so sweet, it keeps the palate desensitized to sugar making your want more sugary foods in general. when you're thirsty your body wants and needs water, there is no reason to add sugar, sugar substitutes, coloring, etc to the equation. if you want to "jazz" up plain water, squeeze some lemon or lime in it.

Thank God for Fox News! I don't know where society would be without them! Future FN news flashes will probably include stories like "Fire Determined to be Hot" or "Survey Proves That Water is Wet" or "Scientist Determines That Liquid Nitrogen is Cold" ...

FIFY. Fox News doesn't have the market cornered on stupid articles about soda.

Sodas don't kill people, monkey's with sodas kills people.

I honestly very rarely drink pop anymore, and that's right I said pop. I am from the Chi, we don't know about that soda stuff here.

50 miles into a paceline ride with a group that is too fast for me, everything hurts with 20 to go. I'll grab a warm coke in a can, shake it up, open down in a trash can. Drink what's left and eat 1/2 snickers bar. Rocket fuel for that last 45 min to an hour. Works every time...

What's with the shaking and drinking what's left routine? Do you see a benefit in the shaken coke or it is portion control? And why warm? Warm coke sounds like a great way to get me to quit drinking it. Actually, with the cancer risk of colas, I'm done with those. Just don't need to go down that road again.

Years ago I bonked in the middle of a ride, and a can of coke was good for another 5 miles or so.

but i can be one of those small (8 oz) ones.....icy cold...... and not a huge big gulp multi-gallon coke. moderation is key

and over flaky almost shaved ice.....even better
