I like jerseys. they are form follow function for bicycling and are very functional. No flapping in the wind, good options for ventilation, long tail and the absolute utillity of the rear pockets.

jersey sizing is another story.... my rule of thumb is go up one size from what I normally where and only do club fit.

I am 6' 270 and in Voler use the triple x jersey. It is snug, though I prefer to call it aerodynamic. in regular tshirts I wear xl and xxl depending on the shirt and use (xxl for gym so that when I do weights I don't share my belly button)

race fit is super tight even by jersey standards.....probably not appropriate for anyone who is not racer whippet thin. Club fit is a looser fit. so in the same size jersey a club fit might be slightly loose and the club fit super tight

here is the voler size chart

Men's Sizing
Waist Weight Height Chest Inseam
X Small 26-29 100-120 5'5" and under 33-35 8.5
Small 29-31 120-145 5'4" to 5' 8" 35-37 9
Medium 32-34 145-170 5'7" to 5'11" 38-40 9.5
Large 35-37 170-190 5'10" to 6'2" 40-42 10
X Large 38-41 190-220 6'1" to 6'5" 42-44 10.5
XX Large 42-45 220-250 6'3" and up 44-46 11
XXX Large 46-50 250-260 6'3" and up 46-48 11.5

Women's Sizing
Size Waist Hips Height Chest Inseam

Medium 8-10 27-29 36-38 5'4" to 5'8" 34-36 8
Large 12-14 30-32 39-41 5'7" to 5'11" 36-38 8.25
X Large 16-18 33-35 42-44 5'10" and up 39-41 8.5

I was riding in northern Italy this spring. One day we stopped at a high-end bike shop. They had pro kits there. I wear either a L or XL, depending on the manufacturer. The XL kits they had didn't even come close to fitting me. A couple of people who wear Ms tried on some XL jerseys and they were snug.

We also got to visit this company's factory and buy stuff directly:

https://www.giessegi.com/en

Their sizing was a but more forgiving for many items. Interestingly, they has a jersey style called "Athena."

More and more cycling apparel companies are starting to produce larger sizes in nicer quality, better looking, more feature rich designs, that more reflect the sizes of the actual people out on bike paths or charity rides rather than the pro peloton. Primal Wear is one of them. Canari is another Quite a few designs go up to 5X.

Even though it is not a 5X by t-shirt standards, they are still pretty generously cut. We are also in the process of working with another company who currently makes up to 4X, to increase that to 6X. It is probably tough to walk into your local bike shop and find some nice 5X designs, but they are out there and more will be out in the future.

I like Jerseys, because of pockets & I can get them in colors that makes folks notice you on the bike. Bright colors with contrasting stripes works best or flags jerseys can work also, as long as they don't raise ire of the locals!

Also like the jerseys that zip all the way down the front, helps w/bibs.

Majority of larges fit me, some of the pockets are too far in to be practical .
But as someone posted each his own.
When the kids where young & there was not much money we would use t-shirts put elastic pockets on & decorate with what ever theme the kids wanted. My favorite was I'm w/Lard Butt

Too funny, but I can't imagine what they would come with as teenagers! (maybe I can as I have a teenager)

Thank you!

I facilitate the C/A jersey orders. The first round, Champ-Sys offered sizes to 8x (if I remember correctly). The second round they dropped it to 5x. Now they're down to 4x....and I'm done ordering from them. Uh, this is the C/A forum! By nature, we need the larger sizes, thank you!

Aerotech designs makes some big jerseys. I am 6', 275 and I ordered a 4X and had to re-order a 3x. They make a couple different cuts, some are looser and some are tighter. If you click on the big man sizes you can purchase a generously cut, loose fitting well made garment that does a great job wicking, 3 pockets and a half zip. I'm saying the 4x you could be well over 300 lbs. and stil have room.

And made in the USA.

I tried a 3X pro jersey the other day. Looked like a stuffed sausage skin. The world deserves better.

I do not mind riding the kit of my favourite team. But I don't want to look like a pillock doing it.

I have one jersey that is a medium and a similar one, by the same company, in an XL and the two are almost indistiguishable in size, I'd call them both a large. I find that Primal's club fit runs pretty true to size when compared with most t-shirts and casual wear. I'm 5'11" and 230 pounds (give or take) and can comfortably wear Primal's XL club cut and shorts. Bottom line is try them on before buying. I don't buy online unless I know the company and the right size and fit.

BTW, the sizing charts lie

I recently bought my first cycling shorts and jersey. In general I do not like specific clothes for one type of activity. Partly because of my size (6'6", 297lbs size 15 feet) clothing in general is pretty expensive for me, so if I can use the same shorts for running, cycling, swimming so much the better. Partly because I am kinda ADHD and have a lot of activities I like to do, and partly because of my dislike of the trappings of conspicuous consumption... But REI was having a close out on the clothes and they were 20$ each.... So I figured what the heck.

The shorts are great, although initially they felt like the interior was pretty tight while the waste was pretty loose until I realized you wear them like Erkle pants. They still feel a tad loose when I walk around, but perfect when I am on the bike which is the point I suppose... The jersey ... Well it's sad because it fits great everywhere except my gut, which is the part of my body I am most self conscious about. Even with the Erkle shorts any upward movement of. My arms risks muffin top, and not cute girl muffin top but hairy 45 year old man muffin top... The kinda of thing that I try to avoid for fear of scaring small children. Again great when I ride with my arms down but not the sort of hing I am going to go to a coffee shop in.

So when I am riding just to ride its great, but when I want to actually stop and talk to people I choose a regular t shirt. The shorts are good though... I mean they make my ass look bigger but that just balances out my gut anyway

Checked out your blog on sizing and I have to say I agree... Perhaps what the cycling world needs is a "gut cut" style

For those of us with no experience with jerseys, can you offer any tips for ordering online.

Yeah, make sure the store you choose has a very liberal return policy. Jersey sizing is a total crapshoot unless you are familiar with the brand.

This was covered in another thread, but stay away from most anything Primal Wear, including anything Grateful Dead or Pink Floyd related.

Take a look at www.voler.com Two of the bike clubs local to me use them for their custom orders.

Great company to do business with, made in the U.S., liberal retun policy and an accurate size chart you can view on the website before you order.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from them and I'm very happy.

Big fan of aerotechdesigns.com. Their stuff is American sized. Jerseys still fit like jerseys, so if you want looser fit then order up a size. I'm a 4XLT (currently) in t-shirts and order 4XT from them. They're snug, but fit right. On the bike, snug is ok. Off the bike, I put a t-shirt over the jersey

That I am. Most brewery jerseys are awful, too. And lthough I don't think they are made by Primal Wear, any jersey bearing the likeness of any current or former breakfast cereal character or one or more members of the Three Stooges warrants a mandatory 5 year sentence in a "federal pound me...prison." Some thing simply should not be worn.

This. Plus European jerseys tend to be even smaller.

What's up with that? Aren't there "big" riders in Europe?

I recommend these: https://www.aerotechdesigns.com/big-m...ng-jersey.html

They are accurately sized, in my experience.

Bonus: Made in America.

If you don't like jerseys no one is making you wear them...do your own thing.

If you want a jersey and are large....If you search you will find my thread on Jerseys earlier in the year.
I bought from https://www.love2pedal.com/
They fit.
I needed a couple more long sleeves for my fall rides so I just made another order. They are on sale.

Not really happy with their selection of long sleeves, but I know they will fit and this really isn't a styling thing as much as a sweat and cold thing. I need to understand how not to be cold and sweating at the same time when riding.
