cookies at work
does anyone else have co-workers who bring cookies to work . . . I hate them for it. especially Girl Scout cookies. they are death and the people who bring them are bringers-of-death. When no one is looking, I take the number of cookies I would normally eat . . . in this case, five coconut and german choco . . . when no one is looking . . . wrap them in a paper towel and tuck them in the bottom of the trash can so no one can see . . . thus symbolizing what they are for my nutrition . . . garbage. I think . . . "better cookies in the garbage than sitting in my stomach". little mounds of sugar and fat . . . killing me little by little . . . a slow death . . . by cookie . . . avoided. this time.

There's a bakery/cafe nearby that makes ENORMOUS cookies, in all the right flavors. Sometimes if there's a meeting at the right time of day, we get these. I have no willpower around them. I have been known to eat 4 of them, which is nearly 2000 calories.
Luckily, we don't have those meetings so often these days.

Here's a suggestion: Save the cookies for your next bike ride. I bet those coconut & chocolate ones would be delicious at the 40 mile snack break, plus it'll reduce your chance of bonking
Otherwise, assuming you paid for them, I don't think you'll insult anyone to just throw them in the trash after all you helped some girl scout get her next badge or whatever so who really cares if you eat them? You could always donate them to a local food pantry [before opening the box] or to the break room at your workplace for your co-workers to enjoy?

xmas time is the WORST!!!!! I swear I see a new box of chocolate every day from thanksgiving to new yrs!!!
But back to the OP, cookies are my kryptonite. Wifey isn't allowed to buy them any more or bring them into the house (i haven't had an oreo since june), though her mom will try to send her home w/ like 3-4 bag of Keebler Elf cookies and say its for me I just take them to work and let the vultures have at them OP might hate me too

When I was a teenager (and still skinny), I used to grab 6 cookies from the bag in the kitchen to go and watch TV. And I wanted to eat a cookie on the way to the TV room, BUT I wanted all 6 cookies for watching TV. So I'd grab an extra one for the trip.

Cookies? Really? You haven't seen anything! What do they bring to my work? Donuts. And they aren't just any donuts, they are Oram's donuts!
That box of 6 cinnamon roll donuts is 18 inches by 30 inches! (whoops, I guess the image was a bunch of boxes, thought it was just the top box of cinnamon rolls...) The cinnamon rolls are about 7 inches across. They are HUMONGOUS!
There's the cinnamon rolls. Now how about the creme filled ones? OMG, they are to die for, and I think you will die. You need a sugar shock? Oram's creme filled donuts are what you need. Here's a couple of the creme filled in a box with the 7 inch cinnamon rolls. They are also about 3 inches thick, heavy thick frosting on the top along with the donut part of the middle is only maybe half an inch thick all around at most. The inside is all a frosting like custard filling.
So go ahead and eat your little tiny 5 girl scout cookies. Oram's donuts is what I have to contend with.

Exactly.
My previous job always brought in food at the end of the quarter. I hated seeing people fill their plate then throw half of it away. After really watching my food, I just said no thanks or tried to see if a healthier choice was available before the food order was placed.

GS cookies are bush league. For the holidays, one firm alone sends our small office 10 lbs. of chocolates. I pretty much don't like chocolate so it's no temptation for me.

Luckily, the baker at our facility found another job. She used to bring in a cake or some such every week for her group meetings, but her group was only 3 people including her, so the remainder would be in the lunch room. "Laura made a Chocolate Death Cake!" "Laura made date and nut bars!" "Laura made lemon squares!"
Laura was one of those skinny women who don't have to watch what they eat, and like to bake, and are good at it. Such people are dangerous.

No bakers in my small office group, but we are approaching the holiday season, and one of our vendors brings in a box of homemade goodies that is like 15 pounds of sweet delicious delight. There's 5 of us, somebody has to throw themselves on that grenade. Fortunately they are the only one that goes overboard, and a few companies are sending fruit baskets instead.

Ooooo, In-and-Out . . . now THAT makes me hungry . . . double-double, vanilla shake and fries . . . heaven! First thing off the plane at LAX, I'm headed down Sepulveda to that mega-In-and-Out! Too bad they don't go further east than AZ. !

Eat them or don't eat them, that is your decision, but......
As my mother use to say, if you put it on your plate it is rude not to eat it. There are kids starving in.....
As I have grown up, I no can leave stuff on my plate at restaurants, but at home if I put it in my plate it get eaten. This also means that I dip out a little and have to go back for seconds. So I get to walk to the kitchen again.

I am excitedly dreading Christmas time around here. We get so much baked goods it is ridiculous, but I am also planning on commuting and riding as often as I can this winter. So I will try to offset it.
But luckily no one here bakes much so we don't see things often.
And I can't go back to the fatter me......too sad of a place.

I work from home and I still(!) have the problem with office workers bringing in Girl Scout cookies, donuts from Sheetz, , Oreo's with whole milk - who can only eat an entire bag without a half gallon of whole milk?
