Yep, that's a fair amount. My loaded Calfee tandem is lighter than your Giant.

The bathroom scale says 39 flat. Weighed it in 3 spots holding it different ways. Dang it's bleeding heavy... it's missing the front drlr and has lights and bottle rack. It may drop some weight when I swap tires...

Klein Quantum with 32 spoke wheels and tools/gadgets but no water is 22-23 pounds.

My Long Haul Trucker with some racks and tools is probably 36 or so, but definitely more once you throw in the luggage I carry everywhere.

Today I replaced my old Look Delta Arc all aluminum clipless pedals with a pair of new composite/metal Look Keo 2 Max pedals.

With all of the accessories below, she came in at 21.04 lbs.

A Garmin 510 GPS/bike computer and sensors
Front and rear lights, front using 2 AA and rear two watch batteries
A Hornit bike horn using 2 AAA batteries.
A 2L hydration system mounted on the seat pole and seat
A plastic water bottle holder.

2007 Lemond Versaille (Trek Carbon essentially) ready to ride at 17.85 lbs
2010 Gunnar Crosshairs steel custom including rack 21 lbs. Without rack and some other non essentials, 20 lbs.
1989 Klein Aluminum mountain bike 28 lbs.

I'm looking to replace the Lemond frame this year. Probably going to go with a custom steel frame and going to push for light. Probably be around the same as the Lemond in weight after looking at things pretty hard - and will ride smoother.

I installed a carbon handle bar and Look Keo 2 Max Carbon pedals replacing my older all aluminum Delta Arc pedals and aluminum handle bar.

With my saddle mounted hydration system, my go pro camera housing and brackets, Garmin bracket and speed/candence sensors and a plastic water bottle holder mine came in at 20.05 lbs. I am sure it would be around 19 or less with the bike naked.

I would have to cut my bike in two pieces to achieve what some of you guys got, like 11 lbs and all these low crazy weights.

In my bikes defense I realized I have more stuff on it than I thought. I have a seat bag with a tube, flat fixing stuff, a house key and dry bag for my phone. Then I have small tire pump, two bottle holders, a cable lock, head & tail lights and a phone holder. No idea what this stuff adds up to but I don't leave home without it so as far as I am concerned its part of the weight of the bike.

are you running the clincher or tubular version of those Mad Fiber wheels?

LOL... I'm feeling all kinds of bike envy right now... *chuckle* apparently, not only am I a Clyde, but my bike is too! I look at it this way tho: When I replace my bike here before too long, I should gain speed and distance right out of the box.

No kidding. Definitely in envy. I can't help thinking that at my clyde-height and ... not-clyde budget, I'm going to be lucky to have a sub-25lb bike, let alone in the teens.

My 2004 Specialized Allez Elite weighs 20 lbs. without the seat bag that weighs 1.2 lbs. It's a 58cm with a triple crankset and aftermarket wheels; Ultegra hubs 32 hole, Mavic Open Pro rims, DT 14ga spokes.

Since I've lost 18 lbs in the last 5 months, I think that body weight plays a big role in ease of riding, especially when climbing. I'm happy with the bike and don't feel the need for anything lighter.

I'm rather amused at how light some of the clyd guys bikes are... perhaps it's because my background is mostly from MTB and I've spent a lot of time over on mtbr's clyd forum where there is much more abuse put on parts... not to mention a typical MTB is going to be heavier...
