100 Mile + Club, Turkey rides, November is here

Didn't see a November ride so I'm starting it

being that I blasted my 180 mile goal last month by almost 40 miles and would have made 250 miles had it not been for some bad storms come though I'm going for 250 miles in November...

11/01 - 30.59 Miles

MTD 30.59miles/250
MTG 219.41

had a fun little ride with the bad weather finally clearing out on the road bike... LOTS of head wind on the first 10 miles but made for a fun return... was originally only planning a 20 miler but felt good so added a bit to the ride...

I love stopping off here... you can see Galveston island off in the distance... and to the right you can see the Texas city refinery

I had a good summer of riding but in September and October I've only been out there on and off-and-on basis. Now that I want to ride some more I'll sometimes be at the mercy of the weather. If I ride mostly on weekends and get 150 I will consider it a great month.

OK. Lets call it 200 mile goal for November. It's aggressive, given the weather and travel.

Nov 1st -- 1 mile. Bloody 1" roofing nail thru' the tyre.
Nov 2nd-- 16.6 miles
Nov 3rd -- 25.5 miles, and not fast up the hill to La Luz.

August, September and October really sucked, especially October. Rode less than 50 miles in October. It's time to get my rear in gear and get back on the bike.

So, having said that, I'm going to be ambitious (for me anyway) and shoot for 235 miles.

November 01 = 7.31 miles.

I'm going to shoot for 250 miles as a November goal. I would shoot for 400 like I rode last month, but the weather really gets wet, cold and miserable in November up here in the PNW. There will be the not-very-much-fun roller rides coming up. Ugg. At least they're more fun than droning along on a trainer!

I got a good start today, since weather the next two days is dismal, crummy and awful. The ride today was as good as it gets; about 60*F, almost no wind and sunny. I rode 27.1 miles with lots of climbs, as usual.

Goal: 250 miles
MTD: 27.1 miles

Gee, I was hoping for a title like "A November to Remember" or something corny like that for this thread!

I've got at least a week of travel for November, so I'm not confident of my ability for another 300-350 mile month. That said, I'll shoot for 275 bike miles with 30 more running. Not a bad start today:

11/1: 20.65 miles

Goal = 275 & 30 running miles
YTD = 3,359.49 cycling miles
140.43 running miles

Came up short on my 200 mile goal the last two months. Seeing how November weather in the northeast is usually hit or miss, I'm shooting for 100 miles. That's only 10 days of 10 mile "training" rides, should be doable.

I'm down here in South Texas so pretty sure I can get in at least 300 miles this month. Weather probably won't be an issue but the time change sure might.

ya the weather is nice this time of year outside of storms running though... but that time change sucks if you aren't a morning or day rider :-/... get some good bright lights and that helps though lol.... thankfully they are cheap these days

First rides of the month, both today. The first was my ride to my annual eye exam on my fixed gear bike. 11 miles

The second was to see the new public plaza downtown. It opened this weekend. I rode my 1966 Raleigh DL-1 Tourist 3-speed roadster 23 miles to get there and back.

11/2 - 11*
11/2 - 23

Total: 34 miles

* fixed gear rides

WOW! Are you a clyde/athena? How long have you been riding? I'm assuming you did this on a super light road bike? I'm afraid 100 miles would take me 8+ hours, and I'm not even a "clyde" by definition anymore.

=====
11/2: 1 Mile - A little chilly (50-ish degrees) and very windy today, but I still went on a short and unofficial (no bike computer, no helmet, and in jeans and a sweatshirt) ride today.

MTD: 1 Mile (Goal: 100 miles)
YTD: 1207.2 Miles (Goal: 1,000 miles - Accomplished back in September)

I surprised myself last month by putting out 133 miles with a 50 mile goal. It was my first full month, plus an ankle injury kept me from running, so all exercise was on the bike. With the weather getting colder, I should be able to squeak out 8 12.5+ mi rides... starting with:

11/1- 17.7 mi, 1:22:52, 12.8 avg mph.
11/3- 7.5mi, 39:45, 11.3 avg mph. (35 degrees!)

umm guess I can be called a semi clyde...6'2 and currently about 192. I'm a MTBer on a roadie so my miles don't really show the story but been riding since 05' minus injuries and burnouts. Got on a strong roadie kick in July to loose some gut. My bike isn't super light, but light enough. Photo is on post #9 of this thread. 12' supersix w/ Rival and currently rocking Stans alpha400 tubeless wheels, 25C tires. Good n reliable around 16lbs or so. Fits and rides like a dream.

Goal on the ride was stay under 140bpm, I got on the throttle a bit for a few miles before stopping for brunch (french toast) but kept things pretty tame. Ave HR for the ride was 131, maxed at 167. My body's max is 192.

Don't be scared of long rides, just ride as much as you can when you can. You might surprise yourself

No goals for me this time of year, weather too much of a factor. Although I got in 14 miles today before the cold front arrives.

Weather's already causing problems up here in Salt Lake City (it's snowing as I speak), so I'll have to plan accordingly.

nice loop around the lake... a massive 104' of climbing ;-)... TONS of head wind on the return, had I done my other normal route I could prob have moved up a few slots on the strava segment as the wind was blowing perfect for that but I wanted to change things up... anyway... the bridge at the end of my ride was a pretty tough one for me, it's a decent climb 4% or 5% grade) and into a heavy head wind, full granny (30/26) and even in full aero tuck in the drops and only manged 30mph on the decent side, I instantly lost 5mph as soon as I sat up... that wind was crazy.
