My first 100km ride.
Did it today, too bad the phone died on me and could log only 94km... https://www.strava.com/activities/100399027
Since I restarted riding this is by far my longest ride. I'm clyde with at least 50 to 70lbs in excess (and is not muscle ). It's doable. I'm still hyper from the results... my legs feels like have been under a press, my seat bones are a little mashed up. but they will survive.
my flexibility is improving... too bad my legs are hitting my tummy when I go down in the drops . At the end just give you a big grin... I had to really force myself for the last 5/6 miles... but at the end the feel of accomplishment is great.
btw, I had with me 1 spare tube, a patch kit, pedros levers, 2 CO2 canisters a tiny multitool in the lezyne bag. 1 big and 1 medium bottle, 1 gel and 1 cliff bar..
The bike did hold up just fine... I had a sort of fever at the end but now it's almost gone. ( I was freezing ) the fact that temperatures dropped from the mid 50s to the 40s and I had only shorts, a tshirt and a jersey didn't really help. but at least I'm working on the HTFU department.

Nice. Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but the excitement will pass. 100km won't seem all that great. Pretty soon you'll be doing imperial centuries just for the heck of it.

Congrats on your first metric.Do you think you would have felt better if you would have hydrated better?

Almost 4 hours on the bike. I don't think the 350 calories in the Cliff bar and the Gel or the ~40 oz? of liquid (not sure what was in the bottles) was enough.
Of course that's just my opinion... Not sure how hard an effort it was

I never felt any symptoms of dehydration. I was taking my sips regularly and never been lightheaded... as I got home I weighted myself and I was about 3.5lbs lighter. I think I wasn't dressed up properly for the "return"... I wish I had something warmer.
today I'm pretty much fine.... just a little bit of cold
I wasn't a hard effort... I kept the pace that "you can keep going forever"... at certain point the pain switched from the butt to my legs and I did knew I was doing something good

Way to go. To relive the feeling just keep upping the ante. I remember my first metric. It was brutal. A month later I did another, and it was a lot easier. Now I have an imperial under my belt and try to do a metric a month. Down 90 lb total, and 20 from when I did my first metric.
More true in the case of someone without a lot of excess fat stores. That it about what I consume on a fifty mile ride. Less than that and I start to feel bonkish, but I do still have excess fat stored to burn. Trying to use stored fat as the sole source of fuel isn't viable unless you are doing a real slow pace. Even then, not recommended.
